QUESTION: Will you do a pastel painting, of a cat, on paper (maybe Britol) that has been treated with Clear Gesso? Thank you for all you share.

It would be the exact same principle as here, you just wouldn’t get as many layers as you do with pastel mat so would need to do lighter layers. If you have Bristol and clear gesso give it a go.

for sharpener question - i have lots of videos on that. I dont create much dust at all.

Have you drawn on velour paper? I just tried it with color pencils. I haven't seen anyone use it for them before. I've seen pastels on them.
