How does this velvet paper compare to Hahnemuhle velour paper?

It is not good for sof and carbon pencils, i used derewent pencils the lead breaks off

Hi! In one of your videos, you mentioned not using white paper. I am getting ready to order my first pad of paper from pastel Mat and curious, why not white. My focus will be dogs and flowers, possibly humans.

Purchased the swordfish. Very disappointed. It ate up my pencils. Ugh. The wood wasn’t smooth and was chopped up. Was going to send a photo but couldn’t.

Thank you for this video. But I wonder if this sharpener will also work with Prismacolor pencils.

This disappearing pastel work by fixative happened to me once. I was drawing on matte board and hours of work... Gone. I made it work by pre spraying my matte board first to seal it so it doesn't absorb into the paper.

Hello, what brand if transfer paper do you use for pastel work on pastel paper/board?

Very nice, I did a search on how to do backgrounds , you the only one i seen who does it after you do the subject, I was worried edges would show, but you make it right with pencils which is what I am using, The Pan pastels look great for this usage.

Hello. After decades of woodcarving I discovered colored pencils 2 years ago and really love drawing birds with them. Then, last week I discovered pastel pencils at Blick art store and purchased a 36 pack of FaberCastell Pitt pastel pencils and Pastelmat paper. It was quite a change but I love them (besides the dust, but the trade off is worth it!). I’ve learned sooooo much from your KZbin videos and always “Like” them and am a recent subscriber. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and providing wonderful content! Bob😊

Thanks for the detailed description. I had a tip from an art instructor years ago to use a hand-held sharpener for art pencils. I've had this one for decades, and the blades are easy to access for replacement: "Mobius & Ruppert Big Triple 3 Hole Magnesium Sharpener" Amazingly, they are still manufactured. It's also something that is easy to carry if you're working away from your studio.

hello, i started painting a wolf on a brown canson velvet paper, all necessary underlayers with pan pastels. I tried yesterday pastel pencils for details : rather difficult, only carbothello pencils seem to workwith.i then tried to stump it seemeed then better after Did you try panpastels and then pastel pencils with this paper? many thanks for your tutorials

It's amazing how your teaching skills are soothing, yet I understand every bit. Too many times I have watched lessons that i think they are great, but then, all of a sudden, they leave out crucial steps. Or they show the process with no voice-over, and I'm over here guessing what tools and stuff they are using.

I needed a refresher on what I need in order to get back to oil painting. This is very informative, thank you! 👍The only few things I would add would be a palette (tear off are meant to be good) and a palette knife.🙌
