It looks like you skipped a checklist item and didn't switch the alternator on, so you got no charge. However, I'd partially blame it on furher checklist challenge-response problem - challenge is "ammeter" and response is "green". Yes, it is green, but it's green all the time, as that bar doesn't seem to have red zones at all. Instead I'd rename it to "Ammeter" -> "Charging & green". By the way, how did the flight go? At what moment you noticed you don't have a charge?

You're right! I skipped that and didn't switch it on, fortunately I noticed that immediately after and fixed that. They also changed our checklists recently but it was completely my fault in this case. :) You are very attentive by the way!

Looks like when doing throttle friction check you set throttle on idle and didn't set it in starting position before turning ignition on ;) Am I right?
@flywithtomas4 жыл бұрын
Starting position is always on IDLE in Tecnams. I didn't switch on the generator after starting the engine. :)

“Strobes off” is the mistake, beacon lights always need to be on when engine is on.
@flywithtomas3 жыл бұрын
That's not the mistake. We switch off the strobes after switching on the engine, the navigation lights are always switched on when the engine is running.
@rileyharrington3 жыл бұрын
@@flywithtomas does this plane even have beacon lights? Strobe lights should be on when on the runway and in the air right?
@flywithtomas3 жыл бұрын
This plane does not have beacon lights, it has taxi, strobes, landing and nav lights only.

hey nice video! I’ll soon be flying with one of those and I got the POH of a Tecnam P2008 jc mk2 MTOW 650kg and I am wondering if you guys always take off overweight? From my calculation with 2 average people and full tanks you are going to be like 20/30kg over the MTOW, am I doing something wrong 😅? please let me know I am quite curious
@flywithtomas2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, I appreciate it! 😎 You're doing all the calculations right, if you take the true weights of pilot, passenger and a full tank of fuel it's very difficult to fit in the MTOW. 😄
@damluc912 жыл бұрын
@@flywithtomas thats exactly the answer I got from my instructor 😅, apparently it’s pretty normal for this aircraft to take off a bit overweight. I guess the MTOW is the way it is because of the certification

throttle was idle

In my school, they clean the interior of the cockpit of this aircraft with a product that has a powerful smell that turns my stomach. Every time I see a video of this aircraft, I feel the same. What's wrong with me!

Hi Thomas, I am just wondering, if this is a special process for the P2008 or I've just overseen it: you don't need to switch off Avionics during engine start-up? thanks and cheers.
@flywithtomas2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sven, it's not a special procedure - we don't turn off avionics before engine start on all P2008 aircraft (it's different on P2002). You saw it right, it's exactly like this according to the checklist and SOP, but I don't rule out that other flight schools have different procedures and practices.
@svenhohlfeld23612 жыл бұрын
@@flywithtomas Thanks Thomas for your response. In the meantime I also got my check on the P2008 and I learned it exactly like you do it. I am just a bit confused, because the manual under chapter 4.1. shows up a caution message, that avionics need to be turned off during start. Obviously it's working though. I'm just curious about it, as I am new to aviation and need to understand the detail ;) best regards and all the best sucess to your career! cheers
