Also. When using jack hammers ir anything that vibrates, take pictures of home to confirm no cracking or damage. A customer can file a massive claim or law suit if any cracks in house foundation or house walls. Just fyi.

You're on the right track with your business and thank-you so much for spreading the gospel message! One thing I will recommend, when calculating how your project performed you should calculate your equipment plus labor as an expense (example: Total hours 10 x $75/hr (Skid Steer @ $50/hr + Labor @ $25/hr) = $750). Then when you add to all other expenses and subtract from the total amount the project brings in, you have your Gross Profit. I think you will be very successful in your career, so a higher level of tracking project costs should start now. God Bless You!

I have had a skid steer business in Central Florida for about 10 years. I can tell you to be fair in your quotes and do a good job. Customers will call you back for more work and refer you to their friends. I do not advertise and stay busy. Just word of mouth. You need to work on your grading skills but that will come with time in the seat. Good luck with your business.

@JT-qf4it

@@EntreprenuerDavis You need to trade that bucket for a wider one then. Or overlap your tracks.
@jeremyeaton-precisionearthal
@jeremyeaton-precisionearthal Ай бұрын
Be careful and realize that adding bigger bucket also adds weight to what you’re towing on an already struggling truck considering you stated it squats. When you load your equipment try to position where it is as level as possible and also verify all your gvw. If you are stopped and you’re over it potentially can lead to massive fines not to mention a huge safety concern. Also for the trailer try not to have to much weight on the tongue, this is better than to much on the rear of the trailer (this can lead to fishtailing). After fishtailing three swings it’s common for a vehicle to overturn. Keep up the drive!

Air bags 100% been running two Firestone units for years with no issues. Helper springs are cool until you’re driving unloaded and your truck is overly stiff. Airbags are adjustable on a per load basis so you’re always riding secured and level no matter your load.

Great Video. Thank you for putting it together. God Bless you and your viewers! Don't forget to add in monthly and annual expenses to make sure you are actually earning a profit. Things like Insurance and maintenance for your truck and machine. Payments on the machine and truck? You do have commercial liability insurance, right? What about health benefits and retirement planning? There are many expenses involved in running a business, and none of them are for you to bear, they are all part of the job cost that gets rolled into your quotes. Figure out exactly what all of your expenses are, and include every one of them, otherwise you may actually be paying to work for people. I love that you're on this adventure! Consider the local chamber of commerce, or even some of your church members to connect with some business-oriented mentors to help guide you in keeping profitable for the long-term. Will this level of profit keep you and your family eating, sheltered, and cared for for the foreseeable future? I suspect you could have charged more for this job and still gotten it. I've learned to walk away from the cheapskates and the folks that think my rates are too high. It's not worth the hassle. Definitely buy the attachments you need, and use the ones you have well. Keep up the awesome work and stay Blessed!

Just want to share. Need to destroy the base otherwise that hole section will hold water. Burying the material is fine but you need to destroy the pools completely otherwise it will still hold the water. Additionally compact. The compaction of your skid is next to nothing. About 4 psi. You can do about 1 inch rises for every 1000psi. For a 4k plate compactor can compact about 4in of material! Keep husling and provide great work! You'll make it.

Those numbers are doable-Take away the $500 for jack hammer rental-the $130 home depot hammer rental and all the time wasted running them down and the time picking up dirt when u had to have 18ton delivered anyway -then had to take time to get rid of the extra dirt-- 1 day job easily if all these are eliminated plus alot more profit.. To me its all about your time and managing it - There are enough things that can go left without us creating time sucking issues- im the worlds worse at that! You do like i do - Prepare by dropping equipment off day before and putting alot of thought onto it - I overthink alot of jobs and it usually works out in my favor as far as time management and if it dont then i LEARN from it.. You are not accounting for daily equipment costs, rental, travel to the dump, and depreciation. For using rough numbers like you do, target $1500 after direct job costs to cover you wages and these other costs. Average out wage per hour to be sure your time is well covered. Remember tire shops charge $125/hr to change tires. You are doing more skilled labor and should average at least this. Keep hustling. You are off to a great start.

@@EntreprenuerDavis not throwing shade, just trying to help educate and prevent callbacks or litigations and protect your reputation. As far as squat on your truck, airbags are nice but make sure you include an onboard air system because they 100% will leak and constantly filling them up with a tire gauge is annoying. With an onboard air you can add and lower air pressure on the fly as your load changes. The other option is to add helper springs to your leaf spring pack.

DD help me understand something. You are adding your expenses into the job quote aren’t you??? If not DD you should be even though you my have to estimate. The squat in your rear end is because you didn’t get a heavy duty truck. (FORD) you purchased the absolute wrong brand. You should have purchased a 2500 HD or 3500HD GMC or Chevrolet or a medium duty GMC 4500 5500 or 6500 with front and rear air ride diesel 4x4. -Fuel -Rental tools or equipment -Material dirt gravel etc should be added to the quote even when you first arrive at the Job site to start the project that’s a change as well. Since you asked I would have changed $5,500.00 + all the extras mentioned above. Remember you have ware and tair on your equipment. If you need a partner just let me know. I do have some equipment as well. At some point you will need a place to park/store your equipment and materials stockpiles. Job well done. I like your work ethic. Keep it up and keep the faith and videos coming DD.
