This is probably one of the best, most dynamic informative videos on how to seriously start a small engine repair business. KB you did an amazing job. Welcome to the small engine community. I hope we can catch you sometime on one of our live streams, we would love to bring you on as a guest. Until then, I'm going to share this video with my viewers (community section on my channel) because I want my people to listen to this message. Again, you couldn't have said anything better my friend. BTW, love the 2 cats. I have 4 of my own shop cats that always like to meow or jump in front of the cameras while I record. Take care brother. Just subscribed! Keep the videos coming

I want to thank you for your videos on opening this type of business. I've been a mechanic for more than 30 years working on everything from a string trimmer to a D9 dozer so I have experience, but lacked the knowledge of the business side and how to go about it. Looking to retire from working for others soon, but I don't want to stop working, just want to work for myself. Thank you!

I’m sure u probably know and heard of Steve’s small engine saloon. Man his channel just blew through the roof in no time. I think that’s all he does now is KZbin. You remind me of him. A lot. He likes to give quick tips that he’s learned over the years that could possibly save others $$$$

I’m not trying to tell u how to run your channel or anything like that just saying what I’ve seen really work and help other channels to grow in subscribers and views. I can see your channel growing quickly because you’re so organized and really know what you’re talking about. I’m sure u already know that u can make good money through sponsorship and KZbin revenue when u get so many subscribers and views Good luck. Yw

This is a great video on starting a small business in general. You answered a lot of the questions I had about starting my own small business. The legal and financial aspects of getting everything going have been intimidating and confusing. I absolutely want to get it done right like you did so everything is legal and legitimate from the start. This really cleared things up as far as the steps and processes needed to get everything done on the federal, state and city levels. I love working on small engines and would like to turn my hobby into a business. BTW I love the shop kitties!! Thanks and subbed.

What category did you put your biusness licenses under?
@kbssmallenginerepair26153 жыл бұрын
I can't remember what categories the state provided but it may have either been under automotive, or something like yard maintenance & repair? I don't believe they had anything like small engine repair, so you just pick whatever category is the closest.

I live in Ohio however l loved your video and all the information. Question if you dont mind. Did you start out as on the side then work your way into going full time on your own? I know every situation is different l did alittle on the side last year, and l am looking to do more just not sure if l should jump all in or see how it builds. Thanks and look forward to watching more of your adventure!
@kbssmallenginerepair26153 жыл бұрын
Hi Max, thanks for the question. It certainly is an adventure. While I did tinker with things and take a few things on the side before starting my business, for me I felt it was best to go all in. This is a personal preference and an opinion you may find differ through the small engine community, but my goal was to open a successful small engine repair shop so I wanted to hit the ground running. I felt I could not do that dipping my toes in the water. Without a FEIN number I could not open accounts with parts distributors, credit card processors etc. For me, it was best to just start everything right, and there were not that many costs associated that I otherwise would not have faced. Hope this helps!

I was hired as an “automotive mechanic “ by the National Park Service well I work on anything but automotive. Most of my day is serving and repairing small engine equipment/landscaping equipment in which I’m really starting to get the hang of as far as learning the specifics for manufactures. I’m entertaining the idea of opening a small shop on the side working on commercial grade equipment as well as power generation equipment. What would be a reasonable price for diagnostics for this kind of equipment? I’m not into the free diagnostic due to the fact you can lose money from ppl wasting your time . For car/trucks I charge $100 diagnostics
