How to Start a Stihl MS 211 Chainsaw

anyone know how to ensure the oil pump is seated perfectly (at the correct depth) so its discharge hole lines up w/ the hole that receives the lube? most videos on installing a stihl oil pump say to push it in until it won't go any further but on the ms211 this rule doesn't seem to apply.

I ran mine dry and now I can’t get it to start. Advice? Before, it was so easy to start.

Running it dry shouldn't be a problem, just go through the procedure of starting and it will finely start or if that fails you need to take it to a nearest dealer

Starting isn't the problem. Keeping the cover on while using it is the problem. Seems it vibrates off every time. I tried everything I can to keep the cover in place. What's wrong with it?

Hi Gary sorry to hear that, do you mean the cover (housing) that covers the air filter & spark plug?

@@ApsGardenMachinery Yes sir, that very cover. I've looked it over carefully and seem the only thing supposed to hold it in place is that black slide lever towards the top of the cover near the rear handle. I have yet to use it where that cover doesn't come loose and I have to stop and put it back on again.

@@garymucher9590 The only thing I can suggest is to take it to your nearest dealer as there maybe a faulty lever

You didn’t prime it though? Mine died after 5 minutes. Can’t restart now. Put it in half choke, pull start, pull start, pull start…..prime 6 times, pull, pull, pull, pull, ect for 10 minutes and nothing!

Good Morning the MS 211 doesn't have a primer hence you have a full choke and half choke as I explained in the video. Other brand chainsaw still have a primer which you will need not to over pump the primer otherwise it will flood the carburettor. I can only suggest to be patient. Other than that if your using old fuel that's more than a month old and your using the red two stroke oil it will be contaminated which will not be good for the engine.?? I hope that helps
