While it is possible, we all know the reality that most will never achieve that, and the majority that start will soon go out of business for one reason or another... so yes it is possible... but more than likely not a reality for most.

You missed one option of finding a local print shop to print the shirts for you. I used to work for a company that had a 24 piece minimum per design but could be a mix of sizes (like 6 each of S-XL). Prices varied based on brand of shirt and how many colors and locations. A basic Gildan with 1 color/location was $4-5 I think. This was about 2 years ago so prices could of increased slightly. They were properly screen printed and dried/cured. If they aren’t printed and cured properly the design will crack when stretched and not hold up to repeated washing. I highly recommend calling around to local shops.

I think you should probably mention that there are several ways to print quality designs for instance you cannot simply purchase $300 equipment to do water base discharge printing on cotton and polyester shirts. That equipment is like thousands of $ but looks far far better than digital print , print on demand. Do you have a video covering the different types of equipment required for the different types of printing? Foil? Discharge? Water vs plastisol? Embroidery? Sublimation? Dyed?

The numbers seem to add up BUT the issue is not material and printing equipment. The biggest issue is connecting with customers and making sales. Yes you can start by selling on ebay and etsy but to be profitable you will have to advertise. Marketing is by far the most difficult part of the process. The next issue might be the designs. If you are not a able to design by yourself then you will have to pay a graphics designer or buy generic designs. Me, I would like to stand out from the competition so how do I do that? Higher quality tshirts and unique prints are one option but is that enough? Please do a video on how to market the final product.

In order to print any designs with the laser printer you need to convert the printer ink to sublimation, regular ink don’t going to work. Make sure that you diligent before do anything.

I started 7 years ago with a $200 press and drying shirts on a propane dryer. Fast forward to today and I have about 15 employees and sales over $1 million per year. It is possible to make a great living in this business. Key is do not have the mindset of being the cheapest shop in town. That is the recipe to go out of business or worse being poor while working your ass off. Keep prices up and sell yourself as the best in town. Always answer the call good or bad. Don't hide from customers when there is a problem. Your best salesmen is the shop down the street who can't do anything right. Trust me there is value in great customer service and consumers know this. Your success is your community success and always give back when you get to that point. Also, it helps to have basic business skills. There are many hurdles such as taxes, finance, and business license type stuff. You will be working long hours every day including weekend. Most will never make a great living in this or any business because they simply are not willing to do the work. Good luck to those who do have the entrepreneur spirit.

Print of Demand is hard. Most Shirt-related shops sell their products for about the same price as you're paying the POD company. And they're often better designs that you're offering.
