Imagine starting a business with 10 thousand dollars delivering a package for amazon and making 11-4.5 million dollars in revenue, and all you have to do is take a 3-week training at Amazon headquarters.
Amazon Details: d3a8hw3k243rpe...
Amazon Website: logistics.amaz...
And I know it sounds too good to be true, but I actually ran the number, and its 100% real, so in this video, im going to break down how to start a shipping business using amazon trucks and system and make some real money.
Im going to break down the start-up cost, expenses, and, most importantly, the real profit numbers.
Now I before I tell you guys all the details: I had a long conversation with a guy that works at USPS and one of the new Amazon guys together, and they both agreed that amazon is going to take over.
USPS Guy: lost 60-40% of all his amazon packages
Amazon guy does: 300-400 deliveries a day at works 4 times a week 10 hours a day
Why: I’m telling you this to show you that whether you get your own truck or become an employee, you can still make some money. Between 15-25$ an hour + benefits, it's not like uber.
Start-Up cost ( btw 10k reimburse is you’re a veteran if you qualify)
Also, 30k in liquid assets just incase
10k to get started and you go to Seattle and get a 3-week long training
You’ll pay for travel
Background checks and all that stuff for your employees
Expenses Ongoing
Driver cost: wages and benefits
Vehicle cost: lease, maintenance, and insurance
Devices: phones and other stuff so business runs well
Administration: job posting, background checks
Account and a lawyer if you need that
Background checks and all that stuff for your employees
Income/ profit
Fixed monthly income ( based on the amount vans you have)
A route rate based on the length of your route
A per-package rate based on the number of deliveries
Quick math: if the low end of profit is 75k and low end of revenue is 1m, then we can assume that for 20 fans we would make 3,750 a year from each van ( that’s 312.5 per Van profit not gross)
Ps: Everything you could think off
Vehicle, legal fees, payroll, amazon has a connection to get you connected with those professionals
Work
20-40 vans and 40-100 drivers
Responsible for hiring and developing your team ( this what they probably teach you)
Operate 7 days a week - 365 days a week
Amazon provides the tool you bring everything else
What you do
Set up your business: hire and run the actual business and become a leader
Deliver packages: 20-40 vans per day and deliver thousands of packages
Team Culture: you're responsible for leading your team
Grow your business: step by step increase
What Amazon Does
Get you Started: Exclusive deals on amazon branded vans, insurance, industrial-grade devices (code for phone)
Provide Training: 3 weeks of training.
One week: introduction to amazon Seattle
Two weeks: On the field training and experience with drivers and owners
Operation System: Tools and software
Amazon On-demand Support: where they help you with any issue if the van crashed or anything like that
Experience: 20 years all transferred to you for free
Summary: you are growing and building a team
Boring stuff:
Create an entity
Order vehicles, devices, uniforms, fuel cards and more from amazon recommended vendors
Set service: employee handbook, How you will pay drivers, health benefits and other stuff, and consult with a legal team
Set amazon account: to run payments and so on
Start interviewing: background checks, drug test, payroll and so on
Set up a team area and train your team ( that’s why that training they give you at amazon HQ is so important)
Boom Launch: five Routes/day for the first week
Check-in with employee weekly to see the performance: increase routes 3 months later to maybe 20 or more routes
Difference between this and flex
How do they pay you
Where are the vans stored
Do we get our office space or something

INFORMATION IS EVERYTHING

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. When you said Amazon leases the trucks to the independent contractors, that's already a red flag. I'm a truck driver and in every company that leases their trucks to their drivers, the drivers always regret their decision to have leased the truck, instead of purchasing their own trucks. And managing 100 drivers is by no means an easy task. You will definitely need a few employees, which will then cut into your profits. There's a reason why Amazon is contracting independent contract drivers. No health/dental/vision benefits, pensions/401k, workers comp, OT, etc. It's passing on the expense to the contractor. And you better pay your drivers well, even if you're loosing money. Otherwise, you will have a huge turnover in drivers and you will find yourself training every single week. I see this in the trucking industry all the time. Shortage of commercial drivers, so drivers don't put up with much bs, including myself, cuz i can walk out one job today, and find a new one tomorrow. It's not as easy as Amazon is making it out to be. They're selling you a dream. There may be potential to make decent money, but you're gonna have to work your ass off, and with headaches along the way. In closing, do your homework diligently, if you plan to embark on this venture. Good luck ya'll. 👍

They allow you to have your own trucks and Vans if they meet their requirements. I heard about this opportunity in 2016. The young man back then felt that he was getting jilted with the back n forth of starting with them while he was working his regular 9 to 5 driving his own truck as independent contractor for another company. .

Please do the math before you jump into this business. On their website it says you CANT have more than 40 Vans. Basically they are limiting you. On top of that they mandate that you hire employees instead of giving 1099s. This means you have to provide benefits like health insurance, unemployment insurance, overtime costs that will eat your profit which is not a lot when you do the math base on 40 trucks. Keep in mind that you don’t own the routes... meaning that amazon can give your route to someone else that’s performing better than you. Not to mention parking tickets and gas alone considering you have 40 trucks every day on the streets. At least here in NYC is not profitable. Please dig deep and read forums. I was exited 5 months ago when I heard it but after doing the research I decided not to jump in

Thank you so much for answering. I appreciate all the good advice you always give. “Keep in mind that is the absolute best case scenario provided by Amazon themselves. This is the top end of what you can earn, and likely that number will be less. Amazon states you'll be operating 20-40 trucks so obviously you'll need those 40 trucks in this example to make the highest amount. So let's Divide $300,000 a year by 40 trucks - that is $7,500 profit per truck per YEAR. $7500 per route per year. Anyone in the logistics industry knows that it doesnt take many unexpected expenses to quickly take this route from positive revenue to losing money. When you look at the numbers from that perspective you realize how slim these margins really are. lot's of variables and a razor thin profit potential of $7500 a year. That works out to about 28 dollars per working day in profit per truck. Any fluctuation in expenses could impact you in a big way.” You have to invest 80K to maybe maybe make a profit of 300K 10k= 5 trucks therefore 80k = 40 truck

Used to work as a driver for a year, and worked as a dispatcher for the company for a couple of months here in SoCal. New hires come and go literally every week. Drivers only last maybe 2 months and at best 3 months..The DSP(company owner) could barely get a day off, even though he has a full management team that handles hiring/firing and HR. Owners themselves are more like managers for amazon, than a actual business owners, since amazon has so much control over your operations. Let’s not even get into how many drivers get injured from dogs, or sprained ankles, because they get pressured into running/jogging because the DSP doesn’t want to give out OT(package count is unrealistic for the average driver). Lawsuits, accidents, drivers stealing dollies....also depending on how tight the security is with the van lot, we had issues with vans getting their fuel lines cut at night...so yeah, it’s not for everyone. I’ve seen companies disappear just as how I’ve seen drivers walk out in the middle of their shifts...respect to anyone who is doing it, and grinding their ass off!🙏🏾💯🔥📦

since it's not in the best interest of DSP to have high turnovers, have they done anything to improve working conditions so that drivers don't get overworked which increases their chance of getting into accident and such?

There are things to consider. If your contract is canceled you are still responsible for the business. In other words, Amazon is your largest customer. You lose the contract for any reason, you are still responsible for employees, the Vans and your insurance and etc... Know what you are getting into. Understand the pitfalls of when things go wrong.

There are ton of different variables in play to make the figures. I work at an Amazon Delivery station working with various companies and deliver drivers. It's not all sunshine and rainbows and when things do go wrong you get penalized or in the worst case removed and replaced. People are not easy to manage. Your vehicles have to be in tip top shape and you need disciplined people with clean driving records, who aren't doing drugs to go out into the field and get the job done.

True! Amazon is not in business to lose money, things are not as easy as they appear. People are inherently lazy especially these days many don’t want to work. Even if you pay your employee good money, they will fail you. It’s not cheap to start a business it cost $ it’s always nice to hear misleading info, which confuses people thinking that money is easy to be made.

I drive a truck everyday. There are alot of expenses in trucking. Fuel prices, insurance, truck and trailer note, taxes & maintenance! According to DAT load board cost per mile for van is about $1.80 a mile depending on time per year. Make $250,000 (give or take) per truck and only about 35% is profit and that is if you are running at least 2500 a week. That's why people dont want to do it. Trucking is a unhealthy life style. Trying stay alert isn't easy. Major carriers hire alot of foreigners cause it's more money than they've ever had. Its alot of peices and you can be out of business before you get started. You wont make as much with vans with Amazon cause the more freight you deliver per vehicle the more you make in profit. You need 5 delivery vans for every 1 OTR truck to make the the same amount of money. The money is there but you will work your ass off!

Guys I work at Amazon and have traveled to numerous warehouses. There is not one single 3rd party company that has over 30 vans. (From what I’ve seen). This is because depending on the area and demand in your location, Amazon might not need to give you that many vans. On top of that, you are competing with all the other companies in your warehouse. That means if your company isn’t good, Amazon will move or cut your business. A lot of these owners end up owning two different companies to make the bigger bucks. On average you can expect 75-112k. Still not bad for being your own boss.

First of all it doesn’t take 3 weeks to start an amazon business. This is actually funny because my mom was the only person accepted in the whole country to do an amazon trucking business that does packages from 70-200 LBS. She had to go through a 1 year process to get that job and her company is called LMH Logistics. It is a legit amazon company and you can look it up your self. So don’t try and fool people into thinking that starting an Amazon business is easy and a 3 week process because that is BS.

375k profit??? Shiiiiiiiiiiiit! I had a trucking company and used to take those pallets of packages from Amazons warehouses to the post offices. You’re overlooking a lot of expenses including fuel and workers comp coverage which would be expensive as fuck. So basically Amazon is just offloading the risk and taxes and everything onto the owner. Give 30 guys your leased vehicles for them to deliver 200-400 packages a day and see what you’re gonna owe when you turn in those leased vehicles$$$. You’re gonna get fucked. I see ones on the street everyday being driven to fucking hell!! No such thing as a quick profit. Also, amazon will rebid the contracts once they see they have excess owners/workers. I see you trying bro-just trying to give people the inside info.

I’m in the delivery business at Fedex and I myself want to be a contractor but at Fedex it’s nearly impossible to get going as routes are costing over $400k+ and contractors barley make enough to cover the overhead and are not that profitable. Amazon copied the same contractor model (isp) but with a lower start up cost because your building your business up from the bottom so honestly to start off with a low start up cost compared to Fedex is definitely a huge plus. If you want to get in I’d get in ASAP while the start up is low before all the routes are taken and then you would have to purchase someone else’s business at a higher price. If they are similar to Fedex then you don’t have to offer insurance policies you only need workman’s comp and insurance on vans. The name of the game is to just keep getting more routes to make more money. This business is only going to expand as more and more people are shopping online. It’s worth it but I’d definitely hire a manager unless you want to be tied up in your business every single day because amazon is a 7 day a week operation.

I applied to be a DSP owner and it’s seems like it’s hard to get accepted, they won’t allow just anyone to become a DSP owner, you need excellent credit, at least 3-10 years in a management position managing 50+ people, when you apply you need to show proof of 30k in a bank account but in reality i would start with 50k to actually start everything. A clean background and once you have everything running you will work pretty much everyday making sure your employees are actually running their routes and doing their jobs since there is no one to watch them but dispatch.

Truck tires over 1000, truck insurance 300-400, leasing a building with a very large parking lot 3000- 5000 a month. You have to read the fine print if it was that easy why wouldn't Amazon open up truck fleets with their billions.

I went through the steps with Amazon and your numbers are way off. You need over $100K in liquid assets just to be considered to be a owner. You have to lease I believe 5 trucks minimum with the goal of running 10 trucks. And you have to be a active owner, you are not allowed to just hire a Manger to handle the day to day activities. And the pay structure is not fixed. Each truck is paid based on miles and packages delivered. I currently own a business providing Amazon Home Services and I applied for the delivery service.

Not possible for u to have 100 van to be able to make the 375,000 a year. The most Van's/routes u can have is 40. Use to work for them as a driver. Also they fire/terminate those contractors like crazy ur not really a boss there. It's not a wise idea to invest ur time or money into Amazon unless u don't mind going thru the stress to make possible a 100k or less a year because ur not Physically doing the work ur self. Drivers quit on u like crazy because the job is too much work and they cant afford to pay u what the job is actually worth so ppl quit then ur held responsible for not covering the route, u basically have no say there and when ur rite ur wrong lol I feel bad for those so called bosses sometimes. There's better ways of investing ur 40k unless ur really desperate to try Amazon because they will fire u and bring someone new and start the cycle all over again. U don't own no business ur a worker for Amazon because it's cheap for them to have u do all the work and avoid lawsuits that a normal billion dallor business go thru.

If you don't have total control of your business and run it the way you want. You're not a business owner. This is no different than trucking. For example, there 2 types trucking owners. Lease operator which leases equipment thru company which you're told what loads to take and you get a flat rate for all loads. Then you have Owner operator with own equipment is paid for or financed thru personal bank and is leased on to a company where I'm able choose the days I work, what area I want run and at the rate that I will do it for which is negotiable. Lease operator = capped on profits, Owner operator = determines weekly profit. Anytime a business limits your ability to be profitable, it's not designed for you to grow. It's designed for failure. $1 mil in revenue for 7.5% net profit, you might as well just be an employee w/o the stress.

Yes its 10k to start but you have to have 30k in the bank it has to have been in there for more than 40 days. And you have to work your way up to 50 vans by a certain time if not they will terminate your contract. And in a van with one driver you don't deliver 300 to 400 packages on a 10 hour day. The driver are only getting 15 a hour and they work more than ten hours to deliver the 150 to 180 a day. As the own you won't be just kicking back. You will be in there working as well.

Tommy gives this information likes its black and white. I have a brother who is a driver for an Amazon contractor and from what he tells me it doesn't sound like a very easy "sit back and manage people" type of business. You have to remember most people who drive for amazon are very young and don't have the best work ethic. Getting paid $15-$18/hr doesn't really get you top tier employees. And the insurance amazon provides is very expensive for the employee to buy and has high deductibles. I'm not saying that this isn't a good business to start, but it's not as easy as how this guy is making it out to be.

If u run your own van there is no money to be made ! In one year your van will have 120k in mileage and u just lost 50k - unexpected repairs - insurance - employers pay and insurance , fuel oil change, brakes , so basically you just end up in more debt and just worked whole year for free

Making $1.5M in “revenue” is relatively easy... especially in one of the most bullish eco’s in recent time. What’s your annual EBITDA? That’s the real question. If you aren’t flowing 20 annually you’re wasting your time. BTW you don’t use “revenue” to secure loans. You use NOP or EBITDA to determine the value of your business which can then be used to secure a loan. Gross revenue is essentially a BS term.

"BTW you don't use "revenue" to secure loans" This is not true. I've secured plenty of loans based on the deposits into my account in which is gross income.
@southernyankee7517
@southernyankee7517 5 жыл бұрын
Organizations operate on net operating profit or EBITDA which is deposited into a bank and then used to secure the loan (if warranted). By definition no business runs off “revenue”, but to each his own. If it works for you that’s all that matters.

TommyBryson just google the dam thing,, it shows you didn’t do the homework and just went based on nothing.. you came up on recommendations so I saw it and went straight online and found how amazon explains it within seconds.. your giving people false hopes who want to start and then they’ll realize they need more or number won’t hit.. I suggest you do your homework.. no disrespects but dislike honesty and laziness. Have a great day best of luck. FYI I have a neighbor who does this also and I live in San Diego he doesn’t make those numbers working 10 hours a day

Or with 40k i buy a truck and trailer cash, no payments, work it an entire year. A week gross $6k after fuel and insurance keep about 3.5-4k profit. So 6k gross for an entire year will average you on paper about 288k, realistically because of break downs and other things you’ll be at 230k/y gross. After all expenses that comes with trucking you’re left with about mid 100k a year. Just off one truck not having to deal with employees. That’s owning your own cash equipment and your own llc finding your own loads. Which is pretty much what half the owner operators in Houston and Miami, and myself average. Some maybe more. Depends if they haul specialized loads
