@@northeastworms that’s great news😀🇦🇺 I’m in suburbia in Sydney Australia, for my composting pallet bins I get supplies from Juice bars, Fruit shops, 7Eleven for coffee grounds and I live nearby a Racetrack so Horse Manure I call brown gold, are good inclusion to grasses and leaves with also shredded paper from my medical centre. Keeps the worms happy😀 Personal use only for my garden, which normal soil worms take over. Happy Worming😀😀😀

That was pretty incredible. Such a massive new bin for the wormies 👍🏻 Do you anticipate the system heating up during the first few days? Congrats on the new truck - it is a beauty!
@northeastworms2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes I let the new bedding heat up, cool down and mature for a totale of 12/15 weeks before introducing worms
@A-V2 жыл бұрын
Wow - that long? I had no idea. The worms are going to love it in there once you have the grand opening 👍🏻
@northeastworms2 жыл бұрын
Yes, meanwhile they finish to work the other half of the bedding, in this way I can harvest all the casting in the finished one and introduce the worms to the new bedding
@JuanTutors2 жыл бұрын
I feel like you'd save money by buying bigger machines to process stuff. That tiny machine that you were using to process the mushroom bedding could probably be replaced by a metal shredder or something like that that doesn't require the additional thing to push down the bulk. It might leave slightly larger pieces occasionally, but given the volume, you'd probably be OK.
@northeastworms2 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right but being a start up my operation grow very very fast and also my needs for a different equipment, right now I have to slow down on spending money but when I will have my own place I will try to have everything I need to work quicker. Thank you very much my friend 😊

An excellent source of cardboard is either a furniture store or an appliance store. LARGE boxes that provide a lot of cardboard each. Saves having to peel labels from all of the other boxes.

Thank you guys. Mushroom substrate contains mycelium that is one of the main components of the soil web. Fungi are root feeder and are essential part in a living soil to give to the plants all they needs. (In 2 words)

Another question please: How or from where did you get 600 pounds of veggie scraps? Before your video, I have never heard of this quantity and nicely bagged for delivery! Do you have suggestions for other people around the country?
@northeastworms2 жыл бұрын
Those veggies comes from a frozen veggies packaging company, they have left over unused, I don't know how they have surplus but a person that I know have contact with this company and they are more than happy to give to me what they do not use

My advice is to use a lawnmower to mulch up the mushroom substrate not a garden shredder. Just thrown it down and mulch it.
@northeastworms2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your advice. This is how usually I mulch leaves, the problem is that I do not have space in the wormery to do that. If I want to use the lawnmower I have to take the substrate to my house and take back too the wormery after I mulch and will be to time consuming for me
@j.gregorywhitten50362 жыл бұрын
Outstanding video. Question: About how many pounds of worms do you anticipate putting in the new bin after it finishes it's heat / cool / heat / cool cycle? Also, how many months do you estimate that the worms will require to turn it all into castings for you to harvest?
@northeastworms2 жыл бұрын
-I am not weight thr worms, I will move the worms from the other side of the big bin, if I have to estimate they will be around 40+ pounds - yes is heat/cool/heat/cool cycle and it will take around 13/15 weeks to be ready. - I estimate that in 3 months this bedding will be all worm casting. Thank you for your question, this will help other people to understand better

Don't know if it's something you're able to do but you could have people deliver their yard waste to you tree leaves branches and other stuff like that and you can mulch it up and put it in your worm bins I have neighbors that give me all their leaves after raking their yard from my worm's

Could you fix the sound on your intro and overlays? It is very difficult to hear you during the video but, when your intro and music overlays come on, they are deafening. I have to constantly have to turn up, then back down. Sometimes deters me from watching.
