Etsy’s form is considering me a sole proprietor, even though I have an LLC, because I’m a “single-member LLC” for taxes. So when I’m selling on Etsy they will automatically send my tax info to the state, even if they have me as a sole proprietor instead of an LLC ? This part has me stressed 🤦‍♀️

I love your videos subscribed 4 days ago. Love it... I have a question? Im a cosmetic handmade goods manufactured is to true that you have to price you products 3x to 4x more on etsy so you can make a profit because of all the fees and or non cover costed. I was thinking about esty but the fees and policy's had me like omg I just started and if I price regular I will be making pennies unless I charge $20 for a bar of soap or $30 for a jar of bodybutter I don't want to kill my biz before I get started and before a get my name out there. And its very very saturated on esty, NOT try to sound negative just asking cause your on etsy

Thanks so much for subscribing! I’m glad you are loving my channel 🥰 So Etsy does have a lot of fees and there is actually an Etsy fee calculator you can use. You plug in the price of you item and it calculates how much you should sell it for to account for the fees. Here’s a link to it - salecalc.com/etsy & yes if can definitely be over saturated on Etsy for certain kinds of products, especially soap, but I still think it’s easier for your shop to get found on Etsy than a website, unless you are advertising your website well and getting traffic that way. This is why I recommend starting on Etsy first, then getting your own website later.

The fees are more expensive than your own site, but it think it’s a good trade off since your shop is more likely to be found on Etsy. You can also use an Etsy fee calculator so you can figure out how to price your items to account for the fees. Here is the calculator I use - salecalc.com/etsy Also, like I mentioned in the video, once you get used to selling on Etsy for a bit then I do think you should create your own site. The reason I recommend starting on Etsy first is because your shop is more likely to be found without having to advertise as much. Also Etsy is easier and faster to start up. You can easily issue refunds on Etsy. You can do partial or full refunds.

What happens if you sell to a state where Etsy does not collect sales tax? Does.the business have to acquire a sales tax licence in all those states then?

You have to do, I think like $10,000 in sales in that state before you have to start reporting them. I believe $10,000 is the minimum. It might be lower than that though. I can’t remember off the top of my head. Don’t take this as advice though. It’s been a while since I researched this and laws change often and I could also be remembering wrong. You should be able to find your answer on google though.
