I've always got those tangles after sewing and I couldn't figure out why. Eventually, after a few times trying to solve the problem I gave up sewing. Now, after watching this everything is so clear!! I feel like crying, thank you so so much!! No one told me this, they all assume basic things are obvious - for beginners, they are NOT! So I really appreciate this video ♥️

Nothing here about how to secure the thread at the beginning and end of the line. I’m getting loose ends at the end of the line that cause the entire sew line to begin to unravel.
@lordsasquatche86084 жыл бұрын
have you figured out how to secure the thread? I'm having so much trouble with that :(( I can't find any videos on how to secure it and it just unravels each time
@mommg.21844 жыл бұрын
Lord Sasquatche ~ begin stitching forward, then back up over your stitching, then again forward sewing and this will secure your thread. Do the same back and forth stitching when you get to the end. Hope this helps :-)

Hi, I just got my first sewing machine and I had a few questions about your video. At the very end, when you cut the threads, do you tie the threads together so they do not come undone? I worry by leaving the threads untied that they will eventually unravel. I also did not see you do a backstitch to reinforce the seams, so I guess that doing the backstitch is not necessary? Thank you!!
@WendyWard6 жыл бұрын
On most seams it's best to do a backstitch at the start and end. Add this to my method for starting and ending sewing in the video and you'll have a secure seam! Hope that helps.
@jdrawsshit48375 жыл бұрын
At the start fo you just put the thread back or tie them together?
@dianes57622 жыл бұрын
Just remember if you're using a walking foot they don't do back stitching. I just use the auto cut for the thread and go back over it for 3 stitches. This way I can do reinforcement stitched while still using, imo, the best designer friendly foot.

I'm an insulator sewing at work and I forgot how to remove the string from the material after I'm done sewing, it was a good thing I found your video. Thank you.

What about the little doodliy daddily you're supposed to do in reverse to... Tie up the ends or something? I thought you were supposed to do it at the beginning and the end...

What do u do with the long threads? Do u just leave it?
@chelseyr3430 Жыл бұрын
Cut the threads with 3-4 inches extra so it does not get pulled back into the machine. I usually pull them towards the back when I start sewing again so they aren’t in the way.

Just can't get this to work. My fabric doesn't seem to feed, just sits in one place until the machine binds up.
@michaelaedgin94583 жыл бұрын
Is your sewing foot down? You need to lower it so it’s almost touching the fabric
@swinnburn3 жыл бұрын
Me too!??😕
@Mike-me3sp2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelaedgin9458 It has to be actually pressing down on the fabric so it presses the fabric down onto the pulling teeth (or whatever they're called), right?
@michaelaedgin94582 жыл бұрын
@@Mike-me3sp yeah like my main prob when I started was just forgetting to lowering the foot to the fabric so it held the fabric down and fed through

I'm just learning to use a sewing machine and every time I try to start out, it goes backwards unless I start out with a couple inches of fabric in the back to pull on 😕

JordansMom769 The switch where you can backwards stitch, but that's just what I think may be the problem.
