I just want to say a very warm thank you. My hubby's car went in the shop and he borrowed a Prius from a friend. He let me take the keys to drive it today and took off. I thought I knew the procedure to starting it, but missed a step and was stuck in the parking lot. Your video saved me the humiliation of having to call for help again. Thank You!!

@@seeingthings202 yeah I just got one recently, turning it off takes a few steps because it's a hidden setting but there are guides on how to do it online. Took me a few trys to turn it off lol

With the DR.Prius app on your phone you can shut that beep off. Also offcourse a Toyota dealership can do this.

I'm confused about the "B" one. What exactly does it do. I know it means breaking but how does it work precisely and when should it be used.

From what I understand it's like shifting into a low gear in a normal car. So in my old Jetta it was like going into gear 2 or 1 and D would be drive/3

B can more accurately be called Engine Breaking. If you have some experience with a manual car, you may know that low gears like 1 or 2 limit thr car to certain speed ranges and do not let the car roll, lets say down a hill over that speed range. The B gear works similar to that. The CVT transmission in prius sets gear ratios similar to that of low geara in a manual vehicle thus helping in keeping the car from speeding up down a hill without using the actual brakes of the car. Similarly I guess B might also help if you want to quickly to a high speed because lower gears often have more speed "pick" but I guess using the PWR mode in the prius will do the same thing but much better and effectively.

Great video! No other stupid crap. Go to other video on how to start or drive and they show you the trunk and talk about a lot of crap before getting there. Then manage to make it very confusing. We came to how to start and drive, not a stupid review.

Typically for push button start you have to be in park before it accepts a power button press as "ok" to shut down.

The Prius c has a regular shifter and some models you have to turn the key. You just have to flick it and you're ready to go Other than that yeah it's the same.

That beeping sound while in reverse may be the reason I never buy a Prius. It’s for safety? Really? Funny because I’ve been driving for 30 something years and never needed a beeping sound to let me know when I was in reverse. The beeping sound needs to go. It’s highly annoying and just plain stupid. Adding this update to my comment as I just saw someone say that the beeping sound can be turned off. OK! Good to know! But Toyota seriously should sell the vehicles with the beeping sound turned OFF....and just let buyers know they have the OPTION to turn it on. I’m going out on a limb here but I’m guessing that about 99.8999% of people would NOT opt to turn it on.

The beeping isn't for you, it's to alert others that you're reversing since the car is so quiet otherwise. Yes it's annoying, but they're trying to themselves (and by extension, the driver) a lawsuit.
