I used to run a first gen VW Scirocco against Honda CRXes. What fun that was! It's been a while. First mod I did that helped: R-compound tires. Negative camber adjustment helped, too. GTi seats with side bolsters helped. First mod I did that didn't help: lowered, stiffened Bilstein "race" springs and shocks. They looked great, but made for a rough ride around the course, and no faster at all. I also added a roll cage. This ruined the car in the eyes of my wife who would no longer ride in it after that. :)

Great video and recommendations. I competed in the 90;s with GTI's and then moved to Road Racing...fast forward to today and I have a Porsche 914 and am looking forward to having fun with this car. I will not be even close to the fastest cars but I hope to compete with a few other period cars re other 914's and maybe a few Mini's as well.

Autox is a ton of fun! Research what mods put you in what class and be prepared to buy tires because they don't last 30k.

I don't like how this video tells you to go into modding your car without mentioning classing and rule books. Check the rules, and see what class you would like to run in before you modify your car. That wing you thought might look cool could throw you straight into Street Mod. This is one of the toughest things for new people getting into autocross have to deal with.
