easy tip if your starting to collect now collect the Japanese set and not the English one if your just collecting for the cards and not to play the game. Here is why: 1) they are cheaper 2) easier to get a hold of 3) chances of god packs and some other cards English version don't have. If i knew this before i would have started with Japanese

I recommend the starters to get into the game very easily. They start you off with a competent deck and usually contain a few really good cards for your leader. It helps you get started for a low price. You can figure out the theme of your leader and how to play the game. Pro-tip: buy TWO starters and you will end up with four of the best cards from the starters. It's generally cheaper than buying the individual cards separately.

Also since the Sets are identical you can mix the languages if you only care about the art. That makes you much more flexible when choosing the cheaper card and boxes.

True! There are also some cards that are exclusive to certain languages, such as Chinese exclusive AA Nami, so if you want to add it in your collection you have to mix the languages anyway 😅

One thing I’d like to add here: while the Japanese cards may seem cheaper to collect, it’s important to know that Japanese booster packs only have 6 cards in them, whereas the English packs have 12 per pack, in the end probably the cheaper option. Though that may vary per country. I personally collect in English even of I don’t play the game. So far I don’t have any complete sets.

What you said it’s totally correct! Although what I meant in the video is that the price for singles is cheaper for the Japanese version. Meaning that the same card on eBay (for example) is cheaper in Japanese than in English. But thank you for adding information to the viewers! 😁

Everywhere i look in my country i can't even get a playing mat and a deck of cards, most things are sold out except for blister packs in the shops, so i bought 9 blister packs to start off and the best cards i got were an SP Bonney and SEC Rayleigh, some other cards like Kaido and Carrot so ultimately i double my money if i was looking to sell. but i just wanna get some to play lol.

There is an “old” video I made on the channel about rarities, but basically you have: P - Promo (but you can’t find them in packs) C - Common UC - Uncommon R - Rare SR - Super Rare SP - Special Rare SEC - Secret Rare Then you have Alternate Arts and Manga Rares which are alternate versions of Rs, SRs, SECs and have a star over the rarity symbol. What does the number on the fruit mean? Another interesting thing would be the Reprints and how to identify them. I once bought a card for three times the original price because I didn't know a reprint existed.

They’re not rarer, they have half the guaranteed pulls but packs have half the cards and cost half of English packs. So I would say that’s not really a myth but it is still incorrect, as Japanese cards are generally cheaper than English!

That’s not true at all, if you have a limited budget you can just collect the regular set numbering cards and have fun anyway. I spent an average 30$-40$ to complete all the regular sets from OP01 to OP08… If you want to collect all the chase cards, then it’s another story 😅

Japanese vs English Japanese booster packs contain 6 cards English booster packs cointain 12 cards Often japanese Booster Boxes are around half the price of english booster boxes (where I live at least) So lets say I want to buy an ENGLISH case for 1000€ The JAPANESE case woud probabyl cost 500-600€, so I could buy 2 japanese cases for 1000€ Now coming to my question: Are the chances to get something very rare like a Leader Alt or Manga higher in the 2 Japanese cases ... since it is 2 cases or is it the same as the 1 single english case since it contains 12 cards and not just 6...

It depends on what your end goal is. If you’re opening packs to then sell the big hits, then go English. If you want to complete entire sets for yourself, Japanese is cheaper when you need to buy the singles you need to complete the collection :)

It’s debatable I think, there are many Pokémon alt art or random illustrations of common cards that are amazing. The thing about one piece I like the most, besides some stunning artworks, is the texturing of some cards (alt arts, SPs and Mangas)

That’s true, there’s also Korean if I remember correctly. My point of Japanese and English is manly because I feel like they are the two main choices for collecting/playing. The Luffy numbered Promo is the most expensive card overall at $6,000. For cards you can find in packs: in English it’s the Manga Rare Luffy from OP05 at $3,000, while in Japanese is the Gold Manga Roger at $4,000 from OP09 (which will be released in English in December) 😁

That's really not the case, it all depends on your collecting goals. Do you want to collect all Manga Rares? Then yes, you should spend a lot of money to do so. Do you want to enjoy collecting One Piece sets but you are on a budget? Focus on the base version of the cards and leave out the AAs. I spent an average $30 dollars per set to complete them without the AAs!

Scalpers are a big issue for "normal" collectors, and that's a thing. But I think anyone can still enjoy collecting cards, you just need to set achievable objectives for your current (financial) situation! :)
