hi! I am native a Japanese speaker! Your opinion against Kanji is correct, but you dont have to think about how to memorise Kanji or write Kanji seriouly because the balk of Kanji is not available even for native speaker. I always make a mistakes in writing. so I recomend to you first of all, learn ing to speak and listening, after that, you should translate what you can say into scripts using Kanji.

Bro I am learning japanese by watching animes, but don't only do that, I also learn using a method called text + audio. That was how I learned English. That is a very good method.
