I recall many, many years ago taking an art history class on the Dutch Masters, expecting to learn so much about the splendid paintings. The professor spent at least 3/4 of the class showing slides and expounding on the virtues of Rembrandt’s multitudinous volume of landscape thumbnails. No matter how similar they were, each was unique. Not many students got a good grade in that class, but I’m proud to say that I aced it.😇

I've been painting for 5 years and have now reverted back to doing thumbnail sketches / paint swatches first. I made a template out of cardboard and can make a workspace on my sketch pad - 3 thumbnail frames, a mini painting frame and paint mixing areas. The time spent up-front is well worth the effort. Thanks for the help!
