Hello! I am a teacher of English in my country, I have an experience of one year , provided that I've just graduated "got a job right after my graduation " I wonder if I there are any opportunities to teach abroad, knowing that I have my diploma of "Middle School Teacher of English ", but not CELTA or TEFL certificate. Please answer me, sir. Thanks a lot for the video ❤🌷

Hey, thanks for the question. Try to use seriousteachers(dot)com, there are schools out there that might consider you. However, you might want to lower your expectations because most decent schools require a teaching license and prior teaching experience.

Hello, I just found your link minutes before and that was quite an informative video, my question is..I am pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Special education in Hearing impairment, so do I have opportunities to work at Kuwait as a special educator or a resource person? Thank you..!
@edtechii4 жыл бұрын
Hello Ayisha siddiqa, thank you for your question. Teaching opportunities are always available. If you are specifically interested in teaching in Kuwait, I would recommend you check "vacancies" section on the websites of several schools in Kuwait. Here is a vacancy page of the school where I am currently employed: www.bbs.edu.kw/careers.php?id=56&menu=8 I hope this information is helpful.

I have done my Msc ,so still do I need ESL ? I have no teaching experience , But I did an internship as a teacher , so is it considered as an experience?.
@edtechii4 жыл бұрын
Hello Mia, thanks for your question. Every school is different in their approach to hiring teachers. As a starting point, I'd look into low tier schools with low entry requirements. They might be happy with your credentials and experience as an intern. I didn't get your first question.

@@edtechii Thank you so much for replying Actually ,my first question was, I live in India , I did my Msc , I don't want to do B.Ed (bachelor in education) that is another 2years in India , so that means I have no license in teaching , so I want to come to Canada and get my license in teaching ,do you know how many years for this course/license? Is it possible to find a job in an English speaking country like Canada for example? (I have a bachelor degree in linguistics and planning to get a celta certificate)? Thanks
@edtechii4 жыл бұрын
Hello Dreamer G. thanks for your question. Imagine there is a Canadian with a bachelor degree in linguistics and the CELTA certificate. Who do you think is likely to get a job in Canada? My point is - there has to be a valid reason to hire a foreigner over a national. Normally, people tend to find ESL/ELF jobs in countries where English is not spoken as a first language, therefore they (foreign teachers) have an advantage over the national teachers in a sense that they speak English as their first language and can provide authentic models of the language. Does it make sense?

Will it be difficult for an Indian to apply for a teaching job ? With Indian degrees

Hello Kanchan, thanks for your question. There are so many factors that affect your job search-starting from where you apply to, what website you use, and even the time of the year.

Is it really possible to get a job teaching English abroad even if you're not a native speaker? As a hiring manager, did you ever hire non-native English teachers?
@edtechii6 жыл бұрын
It's funny you should mention that. As you can guess by my accent and language use in general, I'm not a native speaker of English myself. However, I've been successfully teaching/coaching internationally for the past 6 years. To answer your question - yes, I did hire many teachers whose first language was not English e.g. Filipino, Russians, Serbians. Two things you should keep in mind though: 1) While you cannot become a native speaker of English unless it was the first language you learned as a child (one of the two languages, if you are born to a bilingual family), it's quite possible to acquire a native speaker of English proficiency level. Which simply means that you can perform all the communicative tasks (listening/reading/speaking/writing) at fairly the same level as an average native speaker of English. Some people more than others are naturally more predisposed to achieve this level of language proficiency. While I don't know a scientifically proven measure of the native speaker of English proficiency level, some of the people who I met who seem to have achieved this level, would score an overall band of 8.5-9.0 on IELTS. 2) If you decide to teach Engish abroad, you obviously want your English level to be as close to that of the native speaker of English. However, "nativespeakerness" is not the only factor that comes into the equation, while you are considered for a teaching job. Your teaching skills also play a huge part. To sum up, it's possible to get a job teaching English if your English is good enough and you have above average teaching skills. I hope this info helps!

Can we really find a descent esl job without a Bachelor's?
@edtechii5 жыл бұрын
Hello Gilles Belanger, thanks for your question. It's extremely unlikely that you find a legal teaching position without a Bachelor's degree. If you are really desperate, considerably lower your expectations and be ready to deal with illegal employment i.e. working on a tourist visa as well as horrendous working conditions somewhere in a provincial town/village.
@gillesbelanger10905 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I've noticed that most countries require a Bachelor's Degree especially in Europe, Asia and in my home country, Canada. Latin Americans are more flexible, accepting Associate's degree. I got a contract and the M visa in Colombia to work for a large private language center in Bogota. However, the salary and working conditions are far from being attractive, as I see it.

If this were my first teaching job abroad and I didn't have proper teaching credentials / work experience, I would take it and use it as my starting point. I'd work smart, learn educational technology and student-centered approach, integrate them into my daily instructions; save some money and do either CELTA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4Oxo4meir-cmsU&t or American Teaching License: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp_IYaxpat-JfMU&t I'd keep learning as well as implementing what I've learned, eventually I'd see that working conditions and salary take care of themselves. That's all I can say about it.
