This is a tutorial video on how to start a new town colony in Before We Leave a non-violent Indie city building game. I show how to set up homes to get bonus rooms for more population, best places to build wells and farms, how to start a production of tools and how to colonies a new island and expand your towns. On a side note I show the best ways of increasing population happiness.
Before We Leave is available on Steam and EPIC stores. It's developed by Balancing Monkey Games. Rediscover and rebuild civilization. Create a multi-planet resource network. Before We Leave is a (mostly) non-violent game. There are no weapons, no battles with neighbors for control of resources. You can, however, perish at the flippers of vast planet-gobbling space whales that graze on your worlds and threaten your civilization.
Play, chill out, and expand the fabric of your reborn society at your own pace and create your own solar system of rehabilitated planets. Just watch out for those pesky gigantic intergalactic plankton-feeders.
Your people have spent generations underground. They’ve missed the caress of sun on skin, the squelch of soil between toes, the tickle of flies on noses. They emerge, full of wonder, and with absolutely no idea how to grow anything except potatoes.
Rebuild civilization by building huts, harvesting… potatoes and expanding your reborn society to other continents and eventually other planets. Manage resources, discover ancient tech and create a planetary network of colonies to thrive in your solar system.
But the universe is not safe. Ancient, ancestral guardians demand attention and challenge your cities. The planets you inhabit are scarred by the disasters that drove your forebears underground, and those catastrophes will punish poorly managed worlds.
It kinda reminds of how in Spore you start from a single cell organism and work your way up the evolutionary ladder to a space-faring civilization. Then there is the Civilization like hexagonal tiles and roads, Anno like production chains and multiple island towns and Banished like building and production.
Add to this a full tech tree and three science specific resources, multiple population systems like schools and births, happiness, food variety, a fully working system of pollution, it’s effects on the population and production along with a temporary cleanup option, and to top it all off space whales.
After securing homes for your population, food to eat, wood to transform into tools and some cool fountains to look at you start rediscovering some more advanced technologies. Alongside this you explore your planet, find more islands, new resources and even a broken down old space ship.
After a lot more rediscovering of old technology, shuttling resources around, getting a change of coats for your population, making a cider barrel or 20 out of apples in your new orchards and polluting your pristine nature once more, you finally manage to put together enough resources and materials to fix up and equip that old hunk of junk called a spaceship.

is there any way to see before building and trying it out what bonus or penalty each building gives when placed near other buildings? Or do you have to remember all of that?

Hi Dennis, welcome to my channel. Yes there is. When you chose a building to construct it, in the right corner of the screen you can see a list of icons each with a red or green arrow. Green means that those building will give a positive bonus if placed next to the building your have selected. Red means a negative impact. When you chose a spot for the building you have selected for construction, on that right side, you can see text saying bonuses. This will show you what bonuses that building will receive if constructed on that hex. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, and suggestions and ideas are welcome too!

@@perafilozof not everywhere no. my people did way to long over removing forest and building new buildings. and my space was very limited because every house had only 2 people and other inefficient buildings like that. i watched your other videos too but i don't understand why you spread the pollution creating buildings. isn't the polution easier to clean if all polution is together? and what happens when your islands are overpopulated? is that also an efficient penalty? and how to counter that? just not building more than so many houses?
