2d gamestyle is not a downside. in homeworld 2 it is really difficult to use the 3rd dimension without having something to click on, for example resourse asteroids. so i think 3d rts is not really worth it yet because it requires a solution not invented yet. there is a game should be mentioned everywhere, and thats FIVE NATIONS. that is the best space RTS i have ever seen, unfortunately one guy makes it in his free time and no one appreciate it...

@perafilozof I very much am, almost 400 hours in Avorion. I'm excited to see more titles actually making something polished and seemingly well thought out. It feels like the endie niche is providing games that force big developers to actually work hard in this market again, and I for one am all for this.

You can, but you have to make importing a priority. You have to have trains, vehicles and ships import goods. The purple ones, for commercial zones to operate. It might collapse due to "no goods to sell", so you can have to be careful and save often.

Interesting, in my experience quality after being in appropriate quantity trumps quantity alone. Quantity means more food cost to replace losses versus the upfront cost of quality, and upgrades can lead to more special perks, like a second ant for the Fire Ants.

English clearly isn't your first language, but I just want to let you know that your style of speaking is a bit frustrating to listen to. You really drone on, with very long vowel sounds, and you rarely have gaps of silence between words. You almost sound as if you're singing.

Wish there was a space RTS where you had physics where a railgun for example would take a chunk off a ship, knocking it back and the ship floats around heavily damaged etc. Every space RTS is just HP soakers like a boss from destiny XD. I do love RTS games tho just speaking my mind.

@@perafilozof It doesn't have to be like real life though, it's an accumulation of damage. You would have to go through shielding first or be weak enough, for sure getting 1 shot isn't fun lol. Game design doesn't have to be binary, yes or no. See and die. Rather I just want more depth to games I've been enjoying for more than a decade

@@diegomata1062 Buying games early has always been a risk, but these early releases if you pay more are just terrible practice taking more money from people who can't wait or want to make content first. In any case this game wasn't ready at all.

@@perafilozof Hard to say exactly, but as an attempt: Many of the surfaces are too well lit, and more importantly, too uninformly lit - look at the asteroids at 1:06, where is that light coming from? and the shading looks very superficial, (I feel) there should be some really dark spots in a large body like that. That's also a good example of the second point, which is that the material properties don't look right to me, those asteroids don't look rocky or even metallic, it's hard to say what that material is and maybe it's all because the it's too bright with no contrast, I think the lack of contrast might be a big part of it, idk. And generally lots of the surfaces are very matte and look more like plastic than cool space ships. The atmospheric lighting doesn't make sense, there's so much global illumination that it doesn't feel like a 'space' environment. Self lighting also doesn't seem to exist, if you look at the red lights on the station at 3:28, they don't self illuminate the ship, or if they do then there's such bright global illumination that you can't tell. It's also very cool to me when laser weapons etc light up the nearby environment when they fire. I know lasers won't technically scatter in space, but maybe there's scattered light from the emitter (or we ignore that fact) to make it cool and spacey. If I had to summarise: It's too light where I feel it shouldn't be with very heavy global illumination, directional lighting is weak, material properties look like plastic, no self illumination or proper emission from textures. I appreciate some devs hate deferred renderers, but this is just my opinion. Thanks!

Ah, I understand what you mean. In fact lighting in space games has always been far from realistic. Because if it was totally realistic players wouldn't be able to see most of the stuff or enjoy the art and graphic. I like realism but for these kinds of games I also like eye candy. And you can't have eye candy without lots of light.

Honestly? I think if you can make yourself ignore the in-game store garbage and the incredibly tone-deaf way they handled this game in the early months, it is actually pretty damn fun. I believe it fails as a product, but if you can get your hands on a cheap key _somewhere_ and ignore the ridiculously overpriced DLC, the game itself is really damn enjoyable. At least for me it is. That said, it's difficult to argue with the notion that CoH 1/2 are overall better games. They are.

I hope there is a "Blue Print" mode to design ships so you don't have to worry about doing that as your forces are being ripped apart. But I do like want I am seeing.

Beautiful game, i will definitely be getting it. New set up with old game fighting style. Graphics are good and game play as well. I just wish developer would take there time in making games and not just being money hungry. I I'm wondering if you've made a video on the demand bars because I was just googling it and I feel like my reality of what I thought was needed has just been totally wrong...like apparently when it's green you don't actually need to build a lot more residential!?!?! is that true or false ?also I saw that you use a lot of water towers I've never used a water tower once what is it necessary for ?because that's never been an issue for me in regards to sewage or whatever I guess I get a lot of water pollution though. Sorry to like nerd out but I'm obsessed with this game, ive made like50 cities where I will cap out at at 10,000 and everything goes to shit and your tutorials have been immensely helpful youre like a wizard in this stuff

This is hands down the best advice I have ever received on this game it has driven me almost mental to the point where I stop playing the game so many times and don't wait it out thank you for this tutorial because now I will not let it get to me this much and I'll continue to actually follow a city through this is seriously the greatest advice ever and I've been playing this game for 3 years😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉

The problem with the steady increase is that the balance of everything changes as the number and education level of people inside those buildings changes. Offices are simply sinks for very educated people to work at. Those you place once you have enough of everything else. Never before industry. To avoid some of the issues from massive changes as the city grows but also as the buildings upgrade you can try leaving spaces empty of zoning. That way you have room for future buildings, be that utility, transport or special buildings and it reduces the traffic density
