Wouldn't it be more convenient to adjust firstly CYA and Water Hardness before adjusting chlorine? This way you could avoid draining chlorine in case you need to readjust these two values. Speaking of which: I believe lowering the WH by draining and refilling won't be much effective, unless you soften this hard water with some ion exchange resin. Thanks for the video though.

Should the ratio of salt to water in any pool be 1 pound per 1000 gallons?
@Inyopools6 жыл бұрын
No, that is not the correct ratio. How many gallons is your pool? What is the make and model of your salt system?
@ed.t.hansen64995 жыл бұрын
i am told 4ppm that is 4 kg per m3 of water. 40,000 m3 is 10 bags of 20kg salt.

I'm ready to convert my pool from chlorine to salt, based on the math and my water test, I need 390lbs of pool salt, which is almost 10 bags. My question is over how long of a time should I add all the salt required? TY
@Inyopools4 жыл бұрын
You can add them one after another. I have found it easy to add 2 bags and then brush until the salt is dissolved and then continue to do that until all bags have been used.

What if I am freshly starting a pool with new water? Would I still need to test the chemical levels?
@Inyopools6 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbris. Yes, you still need to test your freshly filled pool to make sure your pH and Total Alkalinity are balanced before turning on your salt chlorine generator. Also, don't forget to add the correct amount of cyanuric acid (stabilizer) to protect your chlorine from burning off too quickly. If you have more questions feel free to visit our website, InyoPools.com. We have techs standing by help you solve your problems.

Jeffrey, it most likely wouldn't be an issue. However, it's best to consult your pool builder to get the right information to protect your pool's finish.

m4paws888 I read an article that said what you just said about not turning on the swg until the salt had dissolved. However, I didn’t read that article u til I was two or three bags in. Did I mess something up? It’s unplugged now but hopefully I haven’t screwed up something.

Do i need to balance my ph and alkalinity before adding any salt? Or do i get my salt levels where they need to be then balance the ph and alkalinity
@Inyopools4 жыл бұрын
I would recommend balancing the pH and alkalinity first. Once you start running the salt system, you'll want to stay on top of the pH. It will tend to run high in salt water pools.
@mrhoya144 жыл бұрын

It is not necessary to have a salt chlorine generator. You can manually add traditional chlorine in order to maintain a good sanitizing level.

You don't have to do anything special if you have a DE filter. You would continue to operate the filter the same as you would with traditional chlorine.

I recommend waiting at least a few hours (with the filter running) if the chemistry is really out of whack to retest it, since some chemicals will affect other levels.
@GaryGrube1 Жыл бұрын
@@Inyopools Again, this is just about water prep. It STILL doesn't tell anyone, "How To: Start Up a Salt Water Pool". "Starting Up a Salt Water Pool" is about replacing the filter plug, pressure guage, site glass, removing the gismo and taking out the inlet plugs, replacing the skimmer basket, and water jets, putting back in the pump plugs and heater plugs, checking the salt cell, priming the pump, turning on the chlorine generator, making sure that the flow switch is operating properly, etc. etc. etc.

My calcium levels are around 1.200 , both in the pool and in the tapwater ... any suggestions on lowering methods ? Right now I have to clean my saltcell every 8 hours ....
@Inyopools7 жыл бұрын
That is a really high reading. Are you pulling water from a well? The best method to lower calcium levels is to drain your pool partially, then refill with fresh water. Because your tap water is calcium rich, you probably want to water truck. This is a guide on how much it costs to fill your pool - MGS - www.inyopools.com/Blog/much-swimming-pool-water-cost/
