I was deeply moved by the emphasis on forgiveness as a means to free ourselves from anger. Holding onto resentment is indeed like carrying a heavy burden, and it can take such a toll on our mental and physical well-being. The analogy of drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer is so powerful! It’s a reminder that forgiveness is ultimately a gift we give to ourselves, allowing us to move on and heal. This practice requires courage and compassion, both for ourselves and others. I appreciate the video’s insight that forgiveness doesn’t mean condoning harmful actions; it’s about reclaiming our own peace and happiness. Embracing this perspective can truly transform our relationships and our emotional landscape.

It’s amazing how the Buddha’s ancient wisdom still resonates so profoundly in our modern lives. The idea of transforming anger, an emotion that many of us struggle with, into a source of strength and peace is not only enlightening but also empowering. Instead of seeing anger as something to be ashamed of, we’re encouraged to view it as a natural part of being human, something that can be harnessed for good. The emphasis on self-reflection, forgiveness, and mindfulness serves as a powerful reminder that we always have the power to choose our response.

Buddhism is widely considered one of the worlds great religions and I used to believe this, now I am certain that it is not, it is now what I consider a way of living with the tools of ancient wisdom. I see alot of crossover between what the Stoics teach and the Buddha. I have a long history with Christianity and general spiritualism but neither brought total peace or self control and it teaches Jesus is the only way and without his gift we are doomed to Hell, and now as an older person I cannot abide that. Its rigid beyond what humans are spiritually capable of imo, creates many difficulties in the real world we live in and as we know has gotten many scores of people killed over the course of human history. As someone who acknowledges now that life is a journey and we are all never quite there or where we hope to be without work do you have any advise for a novice to Buddhism? Peace be unto you and thank you so much for your post.

Thank you for sharing such a beautifully articulated reflection. 🌿 It’s truly inspiring to see how these ancient teachings continue to resonate, offering us the wisdom to embrace anger as a part of our journey rather than something to hide from. The Buddha’s guidance on transforming anger into peace and self-awareness really reminds us of our own capacity to grow and heal. May this understanding bring each of us closer to a life filled with harmony and strength. Wishing you and everyone who reads this abundant peace on this path! 🙏💖
