On my Dad's motorhome, he stuck a bubble level on the dash and under the driver's side window, and we had a few pine boards to drive up on if he couldn't find a level parking spot. If I remember this right, you couldn't use any of the gas appliances without being level. Guessing this was because the flame of the pilot light wouldn't reach the thermocouple, so they'd not stay lit.

Being a cheap skate 31 years ago when we first got a motorhome, I bought a cheap £1-50 tee shaped plastic spirit level. I got some flooring joist off cuts (9" X 2") and with a chainsaw cut them to about 18" long with a ramp cut on one end, I made two of these and two about a foot long, and I've been using them ever since. It works well just park put the level on the floor to get an idea of how far out you are, and where the low wheels are if its too far stick a block or two down and drive up and on them, only takes a couple of minutes. My total outlay £1-50 Those automatic levelling system is brilliant all levelled up in a few seconds (a friend has it fitted) but apart from the cost, its the weight thats the killer.

A level motorhome means that your cooking oil will cover the entire skillet so you're not frying things on one side of the pan!!! I'm sure Mazzy knows what I'm talking about.

We use the bedroom door, if it will stay open, that'll do. We have had the same chocks since 2003!

Yep Chocks away a block of wood wedge shaped pulled away with string. We use levelling ramps on our van much better to use for levelling. 🤔

If we're going to be pedantic it's not, "there not" but they're not.

@@MakeDoAndMend1 You are completely correct, they're not chocks they are levelling ramps. I've corrected it for you.

Type in motorhome chocks and see what comes up. We showed our chocks...or levellers in the video so they will know what they look like.

Just park up and pour a John Smiths into a pint glass and put it on the table..... If the head looks level with the top then drink it.... If it doesnt look level then still drink it and youre legally not allowed to move 😉

Very informative and a different take on the subject! about 50% of the time will you be perfectly level. As you say 'Near enough is good enough'. Another reason for being as level as you can, apart from the fridge working better, is sink plug holes, the water may not drain away properly! All fluids find their own level!! Of course the cheapest way to level up is let your tyres down as required and that will do the Trick 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Er you just might need to buy a pump though!!!! 😉😉 Level Headed brilliant Mazzy!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We have found the phone is not very good and a spirit level is better guide. You are right about the feel factor though!! You can use the thick end of the chock as a wedge under the wheel to stop it rolling.

Put a piece of scaffolding plank under your wheel ramps it will give you that extra bit of height.

I call them levelling ramps and I call chocks the small plastic triangular wedge you put under wheel to stop movement on ramp. Maybe I'm wrong 😂 Your not far from Filey, any chance of a Vlog from there?
@ShazzAnne

No your right, they are levelling ramps.Chocks are put under the back of the wheel to stop you moving backwards.

Hi guys! I had hydraulic leverers. They failed half the time. Not worth the money. A scissor jack upside down attached to the frame and battery drill can make it easier.

app is good but it has to be calibrated with a spirit level on first use, the van floor is where you test not a table, the apps use a lot of battery even when not in use. but it's more for rookies
