How to Stay Motivated in your Minecraft Survival World!

I have a Minecraft world that I've been playing on that seed for years. I played it when I owned a PS4 and after my PS4 became almost unplayable because of the hardware, I kept the seed and decided to start anew. Right from spawn there is a massive mushroom island that I've been living on and I've tried to collect most of my resources just from the island alone only making occasional trips out when I absolutely have to. My goal is to terraform the island and make dozens of custom mushrooms and make it a very fantasy-based island. I have been someone lacking the motivation to play it before but I've recently started playing it again! Thanks for the tips on inspiration!

Holy shit i've done the same i think mushroom islands is one of the most underrated biome but i think its kinda psychedelic/ it has Potential for very psychedelic/ fantasy builds and its just crazy Ps ive done it also on ps4 but it's about to explode if i play any larger game than minecraft😂😂😂😂

I've been restarting the same seed for over 20 times because I wasn't satisfied with every build... When I first played Minecraft I did it with the intent to relax, but watching other people's creations pushed me to build more than my capabilities, then I got too frustrated, and got burnt out... Two days ago, I restarted the seed again, and instead of getting jealous of other people's creations, I explored videos and learned from them, and that's how I found this channel... Not to be weird or anything, but I really needed to hear this... my crippling perfectionism and envy has been my biggest creativity killer, and if I could defeat it in Minecraft, I could defeat it in other aspects of my life too... wish me luck! my next project is a small water mill✨

I felt that when you said not to compare our own builds with other Minecrafters. I always feel that my builds are somewhat inferior or are just basic builds that's why I usually copy builds from other Minecrafters. But seeing this video made me think it's okay if my builds are bland or basic so long as they serve the purpose in which I built them (a basic house or a storage room or an enchanting room). As a person who makes terrible builds, its a lot better to build yourself. It really makes you attached to the world and it would probably look better in general as all the builds will be built in the same style and will be build to fit the terrain around them. You also just get a lot of pride when you look at all the things you've built in the world and the history or lore behind it.

When I make a house in survival at the first day, I build a house regardless how it looks because I'm more worried about night time than how the house looks like lol, later i expand the house and also start adding details to it then and it looks nice then when I don't have to worry about night time anymore

love this so much! i have a super big problem with comparing my builds to other peoples and biting off more than i can chew. often times it leads to me taking a super super long break from my world. I haven't entirely quit yet though! hopefully I can stay with it.

thank you so much! Another thing about enjoying the process is that you should start with small projects like starter base, mob farm, sugar cane farm, ect. Then go to iron farm (probably would also be good with a small project), small automated farm, ect. To the big projects gold farm, wither skeleton farm, huge automated farm, ect. Hope this helps!

I started my recent world on nintendo switch during the aquatic update 1.13. still have it, enjoys it so much! because of the console i had severe issues fighting a Wither with fps drops to literal zero, also chunks loading made it impossile to fly elytras as well) so i transferred my world to xbox! having a blast ever since=) cheers bro!

Another great way to get some inspiration is to try and create a scene from a book that you like. For example, I love building all of the Lord of the Rings buildings. :)

The only mods I have stuff that should be in the game but isn't like Separate slots for Elytra and Totem of undying, a map mod, toggle item frames (to make them invisible), Infinite Banner stacks, Wavey capes, and a gravestone mod. I tend to get overwhelmed with dying so I added the gravestone mod.

I'm working on a hardcore world that I recently started, and I've been putting off the nether and mining I got like, 3 stacks of iron from mountains I found and set base on, but I recently came down the mountain to start a mine (I don't want to have to mine extra 70 layers down LOL) But I started gathering trees And a mob farm. And in like 30 minutes when I'm back to it I'll start a food farm. And I'll destroy more forest. But y'know what, fine. I got a lot of iron and I'm pretty chill as I don't plan on having any adventures for the time being, I'll start a mine later, later being probably in a few days And this video's helped me realize that's okay :) Thanks ^^

Me and my cousins are always Create world > Gather materials > Build home (Farm/Animal Farm) > Get Diamond > Go to Nether > Quit > Create world. Throughout my five plus years of playing minecraft, I went to the end, once and defeated the Dragon once, never again. I know there was an entire section of the video devoted to 'not comparing yourself to others' but a lot of the time, when I play Minecraft, I feel pressured to play Survival Mode. I feel like I have to play Survival or even Hardcore. I think this might be because f those viral MC KZbin videos titled "I DID [ insert crazy impressive thing here ] IN HARDCORE MINECRAFT!!1!1!!!" At this point, I feel like I'm not allowed to do anything in Creative Mode because of the meta. When ever I do play Creative Mode, I have no Inspiration. I end up wondering 'What should I build?' 'Where should I build?' 'Is it even impressive anymore, if I do it in Creative?' The thing that bothers me the most is that I have a habit of trying to commit to 1 huge and impressive build or Mega-Base, and then I experience Burn-Out before I even get iron tools. I also have hopes of one day creating Minecraft content on KZbin, but I get this feeling that I won't even get a chance at any kind of success, if I don't play Survival. After all, when was the last time in recent years that any MC content creator got popular from just doing little builds for fun in creative. People want BIG, *BOOMING* titles and thumbnails that draw attention by saying they did it in Hardcore. It's the fact that they didn't have infinite resources from the start and had to work for all of the items and builds in their worlds, that makes them impressive and eye-catching. The worst part about this, for me, is that even the 'Creative-Builds' type of MC channels are making huge structures and massive builds with skills that I would have no hope of knowing where to even begin to learn. I've been playing Minecraft for nearly a decade and I still don't know how to build that well. It's mostly the colours, Block Palettes and texturing aspects of it that I struggle with. I'll be looking at a bland and boring structure that, although a little impressive in size, lacks all of the interesting little details and knick-knacks that make builds look good and I have no idea how to fix it. Any Ideas? TLDR: I feel pressured to play Survival and when I do play Creative Mode, I have no motivation or inspiration. If you did read all the way through, then you are an absolute legend! Thanks so much for your comment! I totally see where you’re coming from on everything you’ve mentioned! I’d maybe suggest just trying to approach your world in a totally different way so hopefully it might feel fresh and ease off that pressure a little bit! Also, just so you know you’re definitely not alone in comparing to others, all I do is play Minecraft and I still feel this way, no matter what I preach haha! It’s just how humans are sometimes :)

@@ItsMarloe I'm so glad to see that someone understands what I mean. I love building and making large projects, but I don't like doing repetitive stuff for too long. I sometimes play Multi-Player with my dad, but he just prefers mining and expanding wheat fields, which I totally get, but It's just not for me. I went back and watched a little bit of your How To Find Inspiration video and what I've realized is that I don't necessarily need to build something to decorate the inside of, but to have something to build on-top of. Like building a gunpowder farm and covering it up with a giant Creeper build. Your vids really help a lot. Thanks!

I just play with keepinventory. You can turn it on from the gamerules menu before you create your world. Otherwise, just type ‘/gamerule keepInventory true’ in chat

My main problem is that I will get a farm and some villagers and then I just wait for the farms to grow so I can trade with the villagers and I have nothing to do while I wait for the farms, and if I go exploring or mining then I’ll get too far from the farms for them to grow. I quit worlds when I’m just stuck waiting for farms with nothing to do.

You can use bone meals and there are many ways to trade with villagers other than farm villagers

If people play peaceful you cannot get every item in the game so there are times peaceful players will have to spawn them in. I stopped playing Minecraft because of other players saying peaceful players should go play creative which made me feel unwanted by the Minecraft community.
