While talking about what these two men did wrong, it should be mentioned what they did right. They did not go out alone. There were two of them. So they did follow the most fundamental safety procedure. I would assume they died from the greatest danger. Hypothermia. I have a grandfather who was a ranger with the U. S. Forest Service and in the last half of his career and Supervisor. He managed to find two missing men. The key was he got as much information about them as possible. What were they planing to do. What was their destination. How much experience did they have in the wilderness. Their age and how strong they were. What supplies they had with them. How fast they would likely go day to day as they may weaken. And what kind of person they were. And then put himself in their shoes and figure out where on the route they made a wrong turn and where would they end up. And then hope you get some luck. Fire a gun from time to time. This can work well if this person they are looking for has a gun they can respond with.

Tanner doesn't know the updated sasquatch ordinance of Skamania County? Well, anyway, it hasn't been a felony to shoot or kill a sasquatch in Skamania County for a long time. It currently IS a misdemeanor & if you're found guilty, you can serve up to a year in jail or a fine up to $5000 (I think, it might be $1000, I can't recall now). However, the ordinance also turned the entire county into a sasquatch refuge area & it states that if the relict hominoid killed is found to possess any human DNA after a lab analysis (which is potentially a real possibility), then the guilty might be charged with murder.

It is a tragic outcome for these two men from Portland to have succumbed to the elements while out on their search for sasquatch. I wonder if they had a lead from someone they knew or did this out of curiosity, or had an experience themselves? Sending condolences to their family and friends. Thank Tanner Hoskins of PNW Bigfoot Search for offering tips to stay safe while out in the wilderness.
