The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a 1993 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. It was the first installment in The Legend of Zelda series for a handheld game console.
Link's Awakening began as a port of the Super NES game The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, developed after-hours by Nintendo staff. It grew into an original project under the direction of Takashi Tezuka, with a story and script created by Yoshiaki Koizumi and Kensuke Tanabe. It is one of the few Zelda games not to take place in the land of Hyrule and does not feature Princess Zelda or the Triforce relic. Instead, protagonist Link begins the game stranded on Koholint Island, a place guarded by a whale-like deity called the Wind Fish. Assuming the role of Link, the player fights monsters and solves puzzles while searching for eight musical instruments that will awaken the sleeping Wind Fish and allow him to escape from the island.
Link's Awakening was critically and commercially successful. Critics praised the game's depth and a number of features; complaints focused on its control scheme and monochrome graphics. An updated re-release titled The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX was released for the Game Boy Color in 1998 featuring color graphics, compatibility with the Game Boy Printer, and an exclusive color-based dungeon. Together, the two versions of the game have sold more than six million units worldwide, and have appeared on multiple game publications' lists of the best video games of all time. A remake of the game will be released for the Nintendo Switch on September 2019.

Just like the original game: Buy the Shovel. Steal the Bow. Never enter the store again. Now you just need to buy a Heart Piece as well as the Shovel. It's expensive, but it's not 1000 Rupees.

I’ll never forget playing the 1993 version of this game on the OG gameboy as a kid with my brother. We had to LINK our brainpower together in order to finally beat that game. I’m so excited to play thru this new version while following along with Austin’s videos!

That's going to cost a lot: shovel - 200 rupies bow - 980 rupies piece of heart - 200 rupies chamber piece - around 1200 rupies (there's four of these) stealing that last needed item, and having the Wind Fish call you THIEF at the end - priceless There are some things rupies can't buy; for everything else, there's MasterSword.

Legit found this on accident when playing it on the 3ds. I was running around the owner in frustration of the price of the bow and stepped towards the door thinking he would stop me as he always did. Got the "do you feel good about yourself" dialogue and was confused as all get out. Walked back in and "SHIAKAZEE!" Got turned to a human light bulb. Good memories tied to this one. Not like I'll beat the game with zero deaths anyways.😂
