You two explain things so well, thank you. I've been knitting for many years and I never knew about not blocking the first slipped stitch. Thank you. For a woman's cardigan, iI find it best to put a button exactly at the widest part of the bust (to prevent gaping) and then place the other buttons evenly relative to that one.

I am learning so much from all your videos, thank you guys for taking all this time to do these for us. That steeking scared me at first but its very cool. I'm enjoying this so much, gives me a little more confidence should I attempt to do this, right now I am practicing making tops and sweaters first and then learning fair isle a bit later, I'm saving all the videos for later. Again you guys are amazing.

These are wonderful. I had never thought to do what you call a facing (in sewing terms it would be called bias binding - which does the same job but is usually created with a seperate piece of cloth, usually cut on the bias). It's funny how terms from knitting and crochet can interpret for sewing and vice versa. I will always now complete a facing for my seams.

Oh my, you two are the greatest. I’m making my husband a sweater first the first time and am now considering making it into a cardigan instead. I think if it is to wide I can move the armholes a bit and steek a wider front front off. Do you think that this would work?

I have a question. I just finished a pullover sweater but I find that I don't like it in this style and wish I had made it as a cardigan. Is it possible to steek it now? I already completed the bottom and neck edge ribbing and blocked it using the simple wet soak (30 minutes) method and laid it out to dry naturally. The yarn is a Berrocco super wash and I love the way it feels.

beautiful! I cut my steek and now ready to rehang the edges onto my knitting machine to knit off the plackets. Do guys machine knit?
@IngerNordahl
@IngerNordahl 4 жыл бұрын
Your videos have been so helpful! I've been copying an old Norwegian fair aisle sweater and have had to make up the pattern as I go since I don't actually have a written pattern to go by. I have a question about machine sewing the placket onto a fair aisle cardigan. I need the placket to attach between the correct stitches on the right side of the body so that the pattern is the same on both sides. Do you still do this with a machine sew job? Or do you hand sew the placket on with a mattress stitch? It seems like if I do it with a machine, it's a little bit blind because both right sides are hidden from me.
