Really the only thing that helped me with my steering was being persistent and getting over the fear of hitting a kerb when turning left. Once I got over that fear I stopped steering wide and started looking into the new road rather than the left side of a car. It just somehow came naturally with practice in like 2-3 lessons. I was very frustrated when my steering was all bad, and my instructor just kept telling me 'don't worry, you' ll see one lesson it will just click. ' And it did 😄

Thanks. I needed to see this. I got my L’s yesterday (Aussie) and I’ve been so keen and excited, and I wanna drive. And in my dreams (weird) I am the worst steerer on planet earth. And I feel like I’d give myself enough anxiety to a point where I’d be like that irl. So I’m happy that I’ve now watched this, and I’m excited for my future endeavours

Maybe it was me playing video games that helped me judge steering, but that was something I never struggled with. Keeping the wheel steady when changing gear, that was an issue when I started. I forgot to lock my elbow, so I ended up slightly drifting sideways.

Thanks to this video now I know how much steering is roughly required and how early you should turn the wheel. For weeks my instructor kept saying my hands go “dead” when turning at junctions but they never elaborated. Now I know they meant I turn the wheel too late and not enough. Time to put it into practice 👍

If we have a ‘normal’ Christmas then we will have to have another lockdown again with lessons and tests being cancelled again just like they did for the November lockdown. In the United States of America, we drive on the right side of the road and if we're turning to the left in a two-way street, it's almost a full turn to the left and if we're driving to the right, it's a half a turn and a quarter to the right, correct?
