Should i use royal icing with buttercream or buttercream?
@Mariafay_art4 жыл бұрын
Hi great tutorial. What do you do though if the pattern doesn't match up when you do the last stencil? x
@elizabethharris78284 жыл бұрын
Hi I’m glad you liked the video. If it doesn’t match up, I wait till it’s very set and just put the pins in the stencil up to where it meets the first pattern and Only put royal icing on that part. That section then becomes the back of the cake. Hope that makes sense xx

When you say you let it dry do you put it in the fridge or sitting out and can royal icing go in the fridge

So sorry I’ve not seen your comment sooner, I mean leave it out to dry you don’t want to put fondant or royal icing in the fridge as it will sweat when it comes out of the fridge x

Great tutorial!! Is there an easier way to paint it gold? Perhaps before removing the stencil? Or airbrushing it gold before removing the stencil? Thx!
@elizabethharris78285 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it, you could try airbrushing before you take the stencil off but you need to be careful to make sure it stays exactly in place so it doesn’t smudge. You could colour your royal icing in gold with dust too so skip the paint step altogether xx

Hello😊 New subscriber here. Love this stencil design! Are you doing this on a very cold cake? How long are you chilling it and are you having to chill in between sections. Is the buttercream crusting or can this very well be achieved with smbc? Thank you for this tutorial!❤️😊👏🏻
@elizabethharris78286 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie sorry I’ve not replied sooner, I’m doing the stencil on a cake iced with sugarpaste. Which I’ve let set for 24 hours before doing it. You could do this on buttercream but i expect you would have to read chill it in between sections of stencil xxx

Hi. Can you tell me what consistency the royal icing should be please? I've tried before it ended with my having the design raised and rough with pointy bits. Thank you.
@geoffrey100406 жыл бұрын
This should be stiff icing. Thin icing would get under the stencil and distort the design. Bumpy surface - or you could call it textured surface - kind of comes with the territory. You did everything correctly.
@elizabethharris78286 жыл бұрын
hi thanks for your comment the best way i can describe it is soft whipping consistency, like raw meringues if that makes sense? thanks x

@elizabethharris78283 жыл бұрын
Hi the stencil I’m using is from. Company called Caking it up, these stencils are available on their own website www.cakingitup.com.au/product-category/cake-stencils/ they also sell them on a lot of independent cake websites, the one I’ve used in this tutorial is called emerald I think x

Hello thank you for nice tutorial. However I would like to know what do you use in the cake before applying stencils? Was it butter cream or royal ice? For how long should I wait for the butter cream to dry out? Is it possible to use on fondant?
@elizabethharris78284 жыл бұрын
Hi the cakes are iced in fondant then left to set for 24hours before I apply the stencil. The cake needs to be really set so your able to put pressure on it without damaging it xx

How do you make the royal icing? Do you have a video on how to do this ☺️
@elizabethharris78283 жыл бұрын
Hi I make my royal icing with powdered egg white and icing sugar I tend to gage it by eye with how much icing sugar to use, and nearly always have to add more icing sugar to whip it up to light and fluffy. One key thing when your making royal icing is to leave it whipping for at least 5 minutes to get it really fluffy. I would start with 150g icing sugar to the equivalent of 1 egg white, add more once that has fully incorporated xx
@melaniemacias43623 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethharris7828 do you add water? I purchased this Wilton powder to make royal icing but I’m not sure how to use that
@elizabethharris78283 жыл бұрын
@@melaniemacias4362 hi yes the Wilton powder should give you a guide of how much powder to water to mix, and this is the equivalent of an egg white. Then you can beat it with your icing sugar. I whip mine for at least 5 mins to get it really light and fluffy x

Hi i'm sorry i haven't replied sooner, it would be very difficult to use buttercream for this method as you have to apply quite a bit of pressure to the cake when applying the royal icing onto the stencil, this would damage the buttercream. hope this helps xx

Hi love to see it Wana ask one question ? As it's a dummy cake so u r using pins to fix the stencil.is it food safe to use it in original cake? Or we can use shortening to fix stencil rather using pin in cake
@elizabethharris78285 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your message, when you use pins in a real cake you need to sterilise the pins before you do it. The other thing I always make I do is count them going in and coming out so that I know the same about has come out as ive put it. Although I think it would be pretty hard to leave one in, I count as an extra precaution. Hope that helps xx

couldnt you just paint the gold on while the stencil is still pinned?that seems much easier than painting after its removed.
