I even feel shy and uncomfortable when it comes to speaking in my native language. Mainly because I worry what people think of me and how I appear to them and if they like me - this makes me feel totally insecure and I either talk in high pitch, nonsense or not at all. Frankly, I think that I am more comfortable speaking English as my second language because I can use this as an excuse for this weird silence and sagging conversation. Anyway, your tips are quite helpful and a lifelong training for me and I keep working. Thank you for the lessons!

Yayy! Be confident while speaking any language. We always worry about being judged by other people. I'm one of you guys only, and I must say you should never tell anyone that you're shy. Always say to yourself "I can do this. It's okay."❤ and also, even if you end up making some mistake, don't you dare back out my friend because you should be glad that you just learned something new. Keep practising, speak and listen more often. And yes! Never forget to smile!💕 also lucy, thanks for the video.❤

When I talk in front of a crowd of people whether it is in a language class or in a meeting at work, I think about what I am going to talk about beforehand, the points that will be discussed that I am expected to pass on to the people there and occasionally I do ask them questions but eye-contact with the group that we are talking to is particularly important, I may for a short while, stare at ether if I feel a wee bit nervous or lost and bring the point to my mind before starting to move my eyes from one part of the room to the other like a pendulum, sometimes looking at a person in the crowd who shows interest through some signs like a smile can be of great help when either shyness or nervousness seem to grip us because being smiled at by some people in the audience in a positive sense gives us confidence to let go and feel at ease with ourselves when we are talking to a crowd, cutting a joke or sharing an instance in your life which is jovial can break the ice and get that reaction from the audience so that we can feel more comfortable expressing ourselves. To this from time to time, we can throw in some appropriate hand gestures as and when required. So I would use this idea of focussing even on a person in the audience or a group of people who show interest in what we are discussing about as that can make us feel more comfortable when talking to a crowd and just move my eyes from one corner of the room to another back to the person who smiled at us and is showing interest every time I may feel lost or nervous because that person who smiles at us whilst showing interest in what we are talking about, is our mood booster or mood enhancer.

I would be shy very easily, and my voices tended to be vibelated. because I care too much about how people think about the way I talk and the way I'm looked. Firstly Start the conversation like this :- How are you And then the opposite person will ask you back the same question "how are you " then just don't reply that you were fine Create a twist Reply something like "Oh! Just don't ask you know last night I ......................." Or "You know what I am very happy about .................." Well this is a simple tip that I follow when I don't know how to start the conversation.

You are so right, Lucy. This can happen with anyone learning any language. It's difficult, but I think people need to try to develop a little bit of "I don't care what you think about me". Oprah once said something about this kind of thing that I think is very applicable. She said "What other people think about me is none of my business". She also said "You'd be surprised at how seldom people think about you when they think do about you".

My friend would understand me when I speak in english but she couldn't bring herself to speak english because she's anxious and afraid to get judge, she doesn't want to make any mistakes because making mistakes is frowned upon here especially with the education system here doesn't help. Since I was a little kid, I learned that shy kids who were afraid to speak in case they make mistakes when they were learning new languages wouldn't get praise or support that it is okay to make mistake. I only improved tremendously when I went to the uni and kept repeating what youtuber I like say to myself.😂 The same my 3rd language, Korean. When I first went to S.Korea, I always heard that my pronunciation is good when all I did just learn through the internet and book!

I would define myself as a shy person. But I am less shy when I speak English than when I speak my mother language (French) or when I speak German. OK, nowadays really few people believe me when I say I am shy, especially the ones who got to know me through English, but I am. It is highly uncomfortable to speak to someone I don't know, I have social anxieties, ... But everything is easier in English. I can't explain this, but now it's my favourite language, even if I make mistakes, I don't know many idioms, ... It's easier to manage social interactions in English for me. ^^
