When me and my mates were kids we used to use an old inner tube, cut a section of a few inches long, slip it over the chrome seat stem and pop it back into the frame stem, tighten up and the seat never budged again. We never had glues like this in them days but its the same idea, nice one ;-)

Hey from the states. Nice idea. You can also put a line of jb super weld around the post tighten, wipe off and let it dry all night. It's clear insane gel. Not superglue. I'll send you some if you dont have it in uk. Also get some friction tape. Cheers

I have a 24 inch MTB and currently adjust it for my daughter. I hated it to almost bust up my knees at every test run, so I made me a longer seat-stem from a trampoline pipe. The only problem, the turning and slipping. At the saddle clamp I used superglue. At the point you show I will try superglue a sprinkle crystaline powder, salt or maybe baking powder on it. Let's see. Sanding maybe.

Maybe painting the stem with one of these direct to rust colors. The metallic ones have small sandlike particles in them. That should increase friction as hell and additionally thickness which is often a reason, too, why it slips in.

Oh nice , I have a carbon fiber frame folder and seat post , it always slips. This stuff would be great!

What do you call the lock in the bike?

It's probably silicon dioxide. :)

Just put a shin inside the base hole, problem solved. The bigger issue is getting a seat to not turn sideways.

what is a shin?

Maybe worth drilling a hole straight through the seat stem & stem post and use a nut & bolt all the way through both then it can not move, i have done this before just make sure your seat is the perfect height for you first ;-)

@@JollyPeanut Yea may end up doing that eventually..Tired talcum powder..less slip but still fails..maybe i should try gorilla glue..lol

Update..went to automakers, diy-stores,etc and asked the question:" Do you have anything that can increase the coefficient of friction between 2 metal surfaces??",...basically no luck..eventually went back to the retailers of the actual bike...they discontinued the model for that exact same reason...They did what @Jolly Peanut recommended - ie the drilling...I tried a cut-to-size piece of hardwood..so far has done the trick. Its a stationary Air-bike so weight doesnt make a difference but that small piece doesnt weigh much anyway....
