So 24 hours without a functioning toilet. Then it's lined with foam packing sheets you'd wrap your dishes with if you were moving. What about cleaning the inside of the tank again later? Do you have to remove the sheets and do the whole process again? What about drop in cleansers? Will those deteriorate the foam? And, why in a how to video would you skip the most difficult part of fitting the bottom where you need to cut and fit around the ballcock and drain?

Thanks for this video! I used a $6 yoga mat and a tube and a half of 100% silicone caulk. It didnt look super neat, getting into the corners was tricky. The end result though is a toilet that doesnt "sweat." Success!

I fixed my bad Tank Sweating in just 10 mins. Cost me $20. Works great no matter how much family turns bath into a sauna ! Been using for months now ! Haven't seen anyone using this Unique method.

I have an apartment bldg. and the bathroom apt. units are back to back. One of the toilets was sweating quite a lot. I became aware that there is insulation in the interior walls to deaden the noise level from adjacent apts. The toilet that was sweating was flush up against the wall. So I decided to purchase a toilet that would not butt up against it. I went from a 12 inch plug to a 10 inch one ( this is the distance from where the floor bolts are from the wall ). American Standard makes these 10 inch plug toilets. It is called an "Edgemere" with great reviews. Lowe's sells them for about $190. Anyway, once I created total air circulation around the tank the sweating stopped. Perhaps your tank is too, flush with the wall with insulation between the studs. Just thought I'd throw this out there as it may stop your problem.

Well that would be nice as long as you have more than 1 toilet in your house. I don't think I can do without a toilet for 24 hours while I wait on the water to evaporate and the adhesive to dry.

More details here than other posts. Like the idea of dying out the tank w a light bulb. Cool, never thought of that. I will be using an exercise mat and Liquid Nails adhesive this time. Polystyrene does not work, trust me.

Been researching toilets to renovate my bathroom. After a lot of reading, I'm loath to let my 40 year old toilet go. It flushes well. Never needs two flushes! It has an insulated tank but still sweats badly in the heat of summer. I'm going to install an anti sweat valve which I feels is a much more effective remedy than foam insulation. I read nothing but complaints about new toilets. Saving water is great but not at the price of a dirty bowl and nothing is saved if you're consistently multi flushing to get the stuff down!

Your data might be out of date at this point. Modern low volume toilets move waste better than the the old high volume toilets ever did, and there are models that keep the bowls reasonably clean, they just cost a bit more.

The anti sweet valve is a joke, never hot water there when you need it if you have a house like mine, hot water heat to far away for little water that will go in tank

I have what seems like an odd problem with my toilet tank. The tank itself doesn't sweat at all. However, the lid on it drips a LOT. I thought maybe it was something inside splashing but I've flushed it with the lid off and don't see anything. Is it possible the lid is simply sweating that much? Btw, it is the BOTTOM of the lid that is always moist and dripping, not the top. I have pretty high water pressure. I plan to turn the toilet value down some just in case maybe it is misting and I'm not seeing it. That is, the high pressure causes a mist that then attaches to the bottom of the lid. Any ideas? Am I on the right track?

101perspective Are you in a hot climate? Does it drip year round? You could try some weather stripping around the inside edge of the lid and see if that stops it. If you found a solution, what was it? Curious to know.

This will stop condensation around the toilet, most likely it is condensing on the side and running down to the bottom.

Anti-sweat valve...100% Has a hot and cold inlet and a mixed outlet, which is adjustable so that it doesn't melt your wax seal. Forget this Styrofoam stuff, ask me how I know. 🤔

I've never had this problem ever, now all a sudden I do. Must be more than water temp. It doesn't just happen when taking long hot showers which would be normal. The whole bathroom has condensation, but just happening randomly out of nowhere is baffling to me. I guess insulation seems easy enough and best solution, I just don't get it. You can also out a heater in tank.. I guess like a fish tank? So I heard. Makes sense.

Maybe it could be flapper or assembly. Water could be running. Again, never had problem. You're only addressing one problem, like there are no other reasons. Only one cause and one solution? Have to disagree.

+m Mack an anti sweat valve isn't going to work very well unless your hot water heater is fairly close by. It takes almost 1 full minute before hot water even comes thru the faucet in my bathroom so I know none would come thru in the time it takes the tank to refill.

Use a cleaning tablet in the tank overnight before, the foam will clean the tank without any effort.

You can manually flush a toilet by carefully pouring water from a bucket directly into the bowl. This is (mostly) all the flushing mechanism does anyway.
