Yeah. The sexual repression the church imposes on men actually causes men to become _more_ preoccupied with sexual thoughts and any "triggers" from what women are wearing that might cause them. It's counter productive to portray sexual or sensual thoughts as bad. If they were to grow up acknowledging that it's male nature to be drawn toward certain visual stimuli, then it would be brushed off so much more easily, and _even less_ would come of it in the guy's mind.
@miguelthealpaca89716 жыл бұрын
Thomas Davis exactly! Just treat it as normal and then get on with your life. There's also a measure of reverse psychology, because if you tell men not to think sexual thoughts and not to look at any image showing a woman partly or completely naked, then they'll get the tendency to want to do it even more than they normally would. Whereas otherwise, they might not even bother with it much.

I know I'm coming to this post way late, but I wanted to add what I know about human sex drives anyway, just in case someone was watching more recently and was curious as well as wandering the comment section. Anyway, based on what I remember from my undergraduate studies (the animal behavior part of my degree that didn't often focus on humans but did include some studies especially in terms of social organization) men and women do have the same sex drive with individual variation not based on sex or gender. However, the peak of the sex drive is different for men and women. Men tend to peak at approximately 18, whereas women tend to peak at around 30. (This should probably be taken with a grain of salt because I'm sure there has been more research in the years that have passed since I was in college.)

The woman writing this article obviously has no idea that women also use and abuse porn. i personally know one lds family where both of the youngest children of 4 have tons of sexual problems from being raised in a repressed, purity culture. The youngest son - now middle age - has abused and violated every woman he's been involved with and is now serving hard time for aggravated domestic assault including kidnapping and rape. This man was a born under the covenant, church going, temple recommend carrying, priesthood holder and Sunday School teacher - make it make sense. A toxic mother, passive, over worked father and high control cult created this monster.

People like to take verses from 1 Timothy 2:11. I honestly wonder if it’s sarcastic because 15 of that chapter says that women will be saved through childbearing. But no Christians will argue that. Also Galatians 3:28 contradicts this strict interpretation because their is neither male nor female. Also Priscilla corrected Apollo’s in Acts 18. And Romans 16:7 Junia was mentioned among the apostles. Depending on the transaction it’s Junis, which is male but Junia is female. And there were female prophets mentioned in both the old and new testaments. But people cherry pick a verse from 1 Timothy and a verse from 1 Cor.

There’s fully biological reasons why women have lower sex drive. We have way less testosterone. This is something that trans ppl often notice, when a trans women goes on blockers/ female hormones generally their sex drive drops drastically. Obviously there’s outliers, some women have a super high sex drive, some men don’t. On average though it’s not this way.

My dude, at 3:45, the reason it’s offensive regarding the claim that men are just “turned on” or some predatorily instinct is triggered, is because it’s an excuse that is unscientific and acts as an excuse for men in how they treat women, if they can’t control themselves they can’t be held accountable. It takes the onus off men.

According to the story of Adam and Eve, God did not give humans clothes. God left them naked in the garden, and it wasn't until they ate the fruit from the forbidden tree that they became aware of their nakedness and attempted to cover up. Just saying, for someone who claims to know the Bible so well, she has already completely failed. I don't even take a literal interpretation of the Bible, and I know that story.

I really enjoy your videos. I have become increasingly uncomfortable with organized religion (of any faith) for years now, and find your discussions - though focused on Mormonism , very relatable. I have never gotten to deep with my relatively recent distancing from religion (practicing episcopal for 40 years not practicing for the last 10). I just have a general distaste for the fundamental principal of ANYONE setting rules and guidelines for how ANYONE else should act/believe/behave. I know it's over simplified but organized religion of any faith slowly began to feel "Jim jones-esque" to me. HOWEVER , (I know that was an incredibly long build up) I watch a lot of family vloggers on you tube and many of them are Mormon, and they honestly just seem like really nice wholesome families. What am I missing? While I find organized religion to be "not my cup of tea" am I being naive in thinking there is no harm in what these channels are publishing?

Some women are into porn. Also, romance novels are also a booming industry, and they cater to women. Romance novels, rom-coms, and similar media are female porn. They give women the same level of unrealistic standards of men, that regular porn gives about women to men. So, yeah, women tend to be just as sexually enticed as men are, it's merely expressed differently. Sex is a basic human need for most people (though there are exceptions), and no one should feel ashamed of something that comes naturally to them. As long as everyone involved enthusiastically consents, there is nothing wrong with it.

Check the context behind those passages in the Bible. Also take on the whole council of God ( all scriptures in the Bible about women) before you judge what Jesus, Paul, and all of them thought about women. Who did Jesus show himself to first after he resurrected? Women. Who did He talk to at the well when no men would have? A Samaritan women. You are making a straw man argument and then arguing against it. God loves men and women. You are just seeing what you want to see, instead of looking into the history or context behind these passages. From all of scripture you cannot fairly say God is for the oppression of women. Check your facts before you argue against them.
