There is literally nothing you can do to stop breakage and I am sick to death of it. Wear a low ponytail have breakage at the nape. Wear a high ponytail your edges break. Wear your hair down the ends split. Wear protective styles and the ends become dry and split. There’s nothing I love more than wearing my hair out but it never lasts more than a few months because without a doubt there is breakage, and I’m forced back into wearing fake hair for up to a year before it all grows back. I am so so so tired of this. If hair is all the same why don’t other hair types have to struggle with this as much? They can wear their hair down every single day and have no problems. I’m so tired 😭

I and so many of us experience this from wrapping up our hair at night with a scarf and tying a knot at the center of the nape in the back. No wonder there is breakage and thinning right there. I quit doing that last year and gradually trimming my ends and finally my hair has grown back thick and full at the center nape 🙌🏽

@ashleynicole94232 жыл бұрын
I had some experience with this but it wasn’t due to underlying health issues. It was due to breakage at the nape area. My nape was suffering from breakage due to being left out when wearing extensions and just not taking care of it. The fishtail experience was because the hair was uneven. At the nape it was short but longer everywhere else. After a good evening cut now I make sure to deep condition really well at the nape and keep my nape protected. Also a lot of women get this because their relaxer is not being rinsed well at the sink in that area and on top of that the deep conditioning not targeting this area well….among so many other things that put stress on the nape area. I always bend my head down when deep conditioning to ensure I feel the heat on my neck that way I know the whole nape area is really getting the same treatment.

Thanks for this insight and the term is useful to hear. I’ve experienced this with a relaxer, flatironed and curled with duckbill pins or wrapped, and natural. It’s not just relaxers. Behavior in terms of ponytails or buns or pulling back in any way can be a problem. Am still working on cracking these codes and feel you are so right. It’s crucial, as I’ve also heard some say, to set that area off and nurture and moisturize it daily.
