turn preserve photo to green in Settings--> camera--> click off preserve photo. In ur camera, shut off live and it will stay that way until u turn on again.

@@msbb5007 Except that it doesn’t and I never turn it back on. Sure it stays off for awhile maybe even a month or so, but sooner or later it’s back. I suspect it is a result of an update or maybe after I’ve restarted the phone. If I knew someone with the right skill set, I’d pay them to hard code it to stay away forever.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. I have done this and once-in-a-while, that annoying feature rears its ugly head. I wish Apple would allow the user more friendly option choices. As far as I’m concerned I want to PERMANENTLY remove Live Photos. I don’t understand why anyone would want them especially because they use an inordinate amount of space. Oh well, to each his, her, its own.

Just so you know, I did all that you suggested a few weeks ago and it worked fine, but then "Live" was back again. So I checked my settings and everything was set as before so the only thing I can think of, was... I just downloaded a new update and it might have reset my camera settings. I'm not sure we'll have to see how long it lasts this time.

Unfortunately turning Live Photo off turns on the shutter click sound, there are locations such as museums and cathedrals where neither Live Photo nor the click sound is appropriate. Also, once there is Live Photo for an image just turning it off does not delete it, the only way to get rid of Live Photo once it is there is to edit the photo in Photos with an external editor app and save in that app.

It’s not working 😳 and I’ve tried multiple times in all the ways. I will also click Live Photo in the camera itself, even, snap a pic immediately, and even with a cross through Live Photo, it takes the photo Live. This is creepy and obviously Apple doing their damndest to use up my memory as quickly as possible.

Well duh! How could that be obvious. You need to turn live photos on in settings, to turn permanently turn it of. So logical, right? /s. I turned my sarcasm filter off. Why the hell is that even a thing, and why would you need to turn it off? Shouldn't it be automatically off, and you have to turn it on? That is a really f'ing stupid, memory clogger by apple.

this is so annoying. they all save don heic format and i was able to get the reg pics to jpeg but now i have to get the videos too. had to download copy trans to do that. i hope i dont have to download another for the vids. im going back to android when i upgrade. iphone have to many features and makes shit to complicated. i lost alot of pics cause of this live bull feature.

@@evamohlin1693 I actually had to download copy trans and figure that out lol. but it worked. though I did send the pics to a family member who had a iPhone not on heic mode and it became jpeg, I should ask them to send it back to see if it works. I also intend to send the pics back from my pc and see if it converts it since I disabled the heic mode. But I must run now to get work done. I will post if that works out.
