Finally a channel that is more for me, although im nearly 44. Its just a relief to have some advice from someone older than the norm on here. However i have extremely dry skin and cant use any powder. My face will soak up vasaline in about 10 minutes. So with a face full of cream putting makeup on and getting it to stay is a nightmare. Great tips! I'm already doing several of these but I still get smudging. :/ I have mature skin and my undereyes are quite dry. I do lightly powder my concealer just to keep the smudging and creasing to a minimum. I have found that of all of my mascaras, only one brand/formula does not smudge. But I hate the wand! So I just use it on my lower lashes and then use one of my other favorites on the uppers. I'm definitely going to try the tip of putting my eye shadow primer on my nose and chin. They always wear off first no matter how good the foundation is. :)

Hmm...you could use a different wand I guess depending which mascara it is? Try a disposable wand. xxx

The mascara I use on my lower lashes only due to hating the wand is Milani Trifecta. The wand is curved, which is fine but it's the bristles I hate. They're short, sharp rubber and I always poke myself in the eye with it. It's also a very skinny brush so when applying it to the upper lashes, it takes a while to build it up. Recently however I've found a high end mascara that works fabulously and doesn't smudge at all. It's Lancome Monsieur Big mascara. I bought a travel size tube of this and the Urban Decay Perversion. I like them both but the Perversion still smudges a little bit. But the Lancome doesn't smudge at all....so far. :)

Great video, love the point re waterproof mascara. I like waterproof mascara but bugs me that you don't get same result. Definitely I shall be using that tip from now on. Ps love your eyes, you really suit little / no shadow. I nearly prefer that look on you compared to heavy eyeshadow ... and I am a full face addict (even when I won't be out of the house 😂)

I wear contact lenses and tiny flakes of mascara gets in my eyes meaning tears running down my face making my eyes red, bloodshot and ending with blotchy face 😭 I’ve tried MAC, NARS and expensive mascaras. I’ll try Charlotte’s now x

Ugh, thank you for this video! Ive bought 5 mascaras in the last few months, from drug store brand to lux brands and couldn't find one that wouldn't smudge! I never even considered putting my eye shadow primer below my eyes. Duh. It totally works! Easy fix. I never even considered it could be my oily skin that was the problem, not the mascara lol 🤦🏼‍♀️

The majority of these tips are bs. If you are 40+ and using primer under the eye, concealer and then powder, you just aged yourself by 10 years, and still will not stop the smudging or flaking. What all that will do is make it impossible to do a quick clean under your eyes unless you have a makeup remover wipe in your purse. Oh wait--she admits this at the end. Transfer or smudging, happens with all brands and with both waterproof and regular mascara if you get mascara on the upper waterline, if you have been in the heat, if you take a nap, or as the day wears on because your body's natural oils will override anything you put on your face to stop it. The high-end brands are just as guilty as the big box store brands. Flaking is caused by applying a second coat of mascara when the first one is already dried, or by using an old or dried mascara, or applying mascara when there is still yesterday's on the lashes. Using a Q-tip will cause you to have a piece of lint cling to your eyelash and make your eyes water trying to get it off. And finally... a lot of that smudging is actually coming from the eyeliner too so... yeah.
