Big Big THX, Tani, the stabilization tips were Much Needed on This End, and Yeah, I'm Not a Fan of Dragging my wheels to Stop, seems unneccessarilly destructive, but useful for dance stability! O:) OH, and I Stumbled on to the "Lazy V Half Circle Stop" cause I wasn't comfortable Plow Stopping goin' Forward! I use it most of the time, but at least I Know what it's Called Now!!! :D :D :D You and Yours Have a Wonderful Wknd!!! ;) :D O:)

This may be a silly question, but how do you stop when you don't know how to do transitions yet? I'm very new to roller skating. I found so far I have to slow down before stopping, I can't do a quick stop.
@Katsanargle3 жыл бұрын
As a long time blader, when I switched to quads I naturally couldn't use the toe stop/transition yet and found myself stopping as I would on blades which is basically a Bubble movement. Bend the knees, balance, have your weight on your inner edges as you squat and bring the knees further in (NOT together/closing entirely tho like a normal bubble). The more you can kinda squat/learn to distribute your weight and lean on your inner edges while you continue to bring your legs in for the almost-bubble, the faster you can stop. You've done it well if you can stop by the time your toes are about 5 inches from eachother. Eventually you can get comfortable with transitioning with the coordination/strength this stop builds. I hope that helps! I've skated my whole life and never put a lot of it into words lol, so I hope it made some sense. Happy riding!

If you can bubble then this move can translate into a plow stop. I personally put my weight into the outside of my feet and push down into the ground. It’s best to start slow. Also a stepping movement helps to get the wheels to stop spinning. 💜

Thank you so much for this video. The roller skate I will purchase comes with a jam plug and I will upgrade to a toe stop. As much as I would love to dance more freely on skates, I need the security of a toe stopper. Who knows, if I get great at skating I may try the jam plug. Lol

Thank you! I started out with a toe stops and still use them depending on the style I’m skating so they are definitely not bad. But it does help to not have them in when doing moves that require more toe mobility. Hope you have fun and thank you for your support. 💜

@@TaniCoy My friend who is a seasoned roller skater talked me into not getting the toe stops because she said it’s unnecessary unless I’m doing roller derby or hitting ramps at a skate park. I’ll see how it goes. Lol…Thanks again for the video, Tani!

How do you avoid a sort of skidding motion when toe stopping? I notice when I stop, there's like a shake first before stopping fully 😅
@TaniCoy3 жыл бұрын
This is a great question! One thing that came to mind is some toe stops might be more prone to vibrating and bouncing than others. But how I personally avoid it is by really pushing my weight into mine and not hesitating. It’s not just a sliding motion, you really want to but some force into the toe stop. It took me some practice to get comfortable with the movement. Hope this makes sense and helps you. 💜
@karinadayrit3 жыл бұрын
@@TaniCoy yeah, I guess I was hesitant to fully push at one point because I might topple over lol. But thanks will continue practicing! :)
