How to stop PDF documents opening in tabs

I attached a PDF file to my main PDF document and made a link to the attachment. But when I click on the attachment on my main PDF document, the attachment comes up in a tab but the main PDF document tab is no longer listed. It's been driving me crazy in trying to figure out why I don't have two tabs, the main document and the attachment. Maybe you can suggests something I can do. Thanks.

Thanks for your question. I think I understand you and it's a weird issue but also I don't understand why you would put a link to a PDF in a PDF, but that's irrelevant I guess. I would have to try it out myself and see because it should keep the main PDF tab and just open the 2nd PDF in a 2nd tab. So you should see both tabs which you said you don't. Let me experiment with this. Thanks again for your question.

@@TwinBytesInc Thank you for looking into this problem for me. Transcripts are in PDF and they have documents and exhibits attached to them. When you click on an attachment link the attachment opens and when your done reviewing the attachment you can just X out of it and return to the main document.

Never mind, I figured it out. The problem was in the Preferences.
