Delay: I found that checking my social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit, was delaying my progress. My work is intellectually taxing, and I need to walk away every couple of hours to give my brain a rest. I had been looking at social media during these "breaks," but what I discovered was that my brain wasn't really getting a break at all! So I've stopped looking at social media. Dissuasion: My biggest obstacle is the inner voice that says "I'm not good enough" to get a better-paying job. So I've asked the universe for a strong, uplifting mentor in my field who can help me get over the "I'm not good enough" challenge. Because deep down I know I'm skilled and capable. I'm ready Universe: bring it on!

Excellent self-awareness about social, Shelley. The quote, "...stand guard at the door of your mind." seems applicable to what you're consuming, in this case! And for your dissuasion, I'd say hone in and get crystal clear, as specific as possible, on what you'd love in the form of your vocation and job, and about this mentor! Tap into your Imagination and let the Universe in on that specific vision :) and that's when you'll begin to act and move molecules in a way that can't help but serve you.

I can understand why Napoleon said Definite Decision was the opposite of procrastination because indecision causes delay. I can understand why Les Brown said "weapons of mass Distraction" I can understand why Bob and Earl say only think of reasons why you CAN

skill is the product of hard work and countless repetition. but the paradigm uses delay, distraction and dissuasion to stop us from doing countless repetition

I`v set my life up in such a way that I have 3 major areas to work on, and when one of these 3 D`s hits me, I simply hop to another area I`m working on, so no matter what I`m always progressing, so if a `D` hits area 1, then moving to area 2 can be my distraction or delay reason from area 1, but it also means I`m getting area 2 done! it kinda puts all my excuses in Checkmate :D

I definitely agree that these are dream stealers, however every so often I find a "good" distraction can help bring me closer to my dream, or help bring resolution to a current issue. Even something like checking out Facebook, at a time when I ought to be following through on something else, I would come across a message, that I would need to hear, to empower me at that moment. All those D's are major culprits, that I have issues with, but working at being in the moment, while taking some kind of action helps me to plow through theses barriers. Every time I see your posts, I always see something new, thanks for broadening my world! Love ya!

Good point, Alisa - in that way, you're still looking for the possible good in a situation, allowing good to still manifest around you.

Great synthesis of the main advocates for procrastination. Thank you for sharing, Mary. You've got incredible communication skills! Love how vibrant, enthusiastic, and communicative you are. I make it a point to live by the 'rule': "If it takes 5min or less to do something, do it now" ;)

This is so true. I am saying no way to these dream stealers. The phone ringing when I am in the middle of something is a distraction. It did not use to be but now that I am older and slower, the phone distraction knocks me out the box, especially since most of them are spam calls.

Thank you for that vital reminder Mary. When I had lots of events and obligations going on in my life I felt overwhelmed and crept into my shell because I felt totally overwhelmed . I ended up doing the basics for me and my family and then just sleeping or watching tv for endless hours when I know I have two dreams to pursue . However, your message made me realise that maybe I needed to take some time away for myself and allow myself to be still. Your message came as a wake up call and so here I am back at my desk, still multi-tasking but feeling refreshed and not guilty. I picked up the ball again and I’m looking out the corner of my eyes for the three Ds.

Cheers, Beverley - it's all about awareness and that never stops. Take an action TODAY and watch how the molecules start to move :) Can't wait to see what comes as a result of your renewed commitment to act.

The paradigm always dissuaded me from pursuing my novel writing goals. It would say to me, Why bother? You're not gonna sell that many novels. What if it's a big waste of time? what if you never get published? It also distracted me with youtube, facebook, instagram and shiny objects (buying books after book on novel writing but never practicing what's in the books) 7/12/2022

Experience is only time and repetition. You're only going to get better at it if you do it over and over again so you better start now. The paradigm will stop you doing the repetition through delay, distraction and dissuasion. watch out for those three dream stealers and keep doing the repetition so you can have the experience and skill

When you repeat the basics, you don't only become great, you will stay great. it's a challenge that all high performers face. The paradigm will stop you from repeating the basics through delay, distraction and dissuasion 7/16/22

A "delay" dream stealer comes in form of telling myself that communication from me to anyone needs to be quite formal and well thought out with every i dotted and every t crossed... I have realized this for some time now. In cases where i just start typing an email and send it (without the well formatted attachment :) I end up being more effective and having spent much less time. When I do manage to do the well formatted attachment, apart from taking more time and feeling tired and discouraged by the end of it, I will probably end up disappointed if the response from the recipient is not enthusiastic!

Oooh, good one! Seems a bit of 80/20 principle to me: is it worth it to get the email perfect? Or would it be nearly as good, if not better, in some cases, to just "ship it" and send the message? Good self-reflection, there.
