Looks like the Jack Gregory 6-3 scheme. Your scheme is similar and definitely effective at the youth level.

Hey Coach. Need help with this.. I split my Def.(9-12youth) Between a 5-3 an 6-2, 1st. how does this work if trips, or trips an doubles are out ? 2nd. This team sends that then runs up the middle ?

Honestly, we ran pretty much the same defense like this every single play. Keep it simple, control those gaps, keep things in front of you. Keeping the calls simple frees up time to teach perfect tackling, and perfect d line play. Id rather have a simple defense, and spend my time coaching techniques. Same for offense. Literally 6 or 7 plays, focus on good blocking and timing, running. Almost never passed. We were like 41-3 or something against all the teams that tried fancy stuff.

deep crossers from the #2s are a worry for me in this. Also any screen or draw will make me pretty nervous especially if this is the BASE defense and the offense knows its coming. in our version our olb/de are on the line for outside contain but we arent blitzing them they either play flats or MEG the #2. if its a TE he MEGs the TE

What age is your team? Our coach in running the 6-2 here in the greater Cincinnati league our team is 5th grade. I see the pluses of the defense, I’m a little concerned about big plays with the 6 man front

Id love for our teams to go head to head, I run an adaptation of the flood concept i call zone option flood. We feast on symmetry by creating selective numbers mismatches. X runs 14 down and out, Z 8 down and out, Y check option Sail at 12. Guard swings out with the running back to create a new pocket, i always got mobile QBs and i just teach them out to read the sam and zone and they only need to make at most a 15 yard pass. Someone will be open but its up to my kids to make the right moves. If you got a good real big and athletic edge rusher put them on the side with the flood, I do have a counter for when teams adapt and flip strong as well, i switch to trips and my Y runs sail INWARD away from the flood concept, that makes it tough on my QB though because he has to make a 20-25+ yard pass cross shoulder. If you add a DB, the QB takes it and runs, add more pressure then one of my guys will be open. Stole it from Sean McVay and made it kid friendly lol. Knowing my guys though we dont have a stop for your beast formation lol. I am not nearly as good at defense at offense and I run a similar 3-4 scheme that relies on my Sam and edge rusher to make good decisions. I think my team would just be too small, i dont have great LB depth so I would shift to your strong side, make my FS a fade zone deep and my SS a wide edge and just hope we can neutralize the numbers advantage and contain outside. Live the schemes coach keep up the great work. You care if I send you my playbook to check out, I’m actually really proud of how efficient I got my offense, we have a 13 year old QB looking like a Josh Allen clone. I played QB and WR in college so I actually am pretty good at teaching how to properly throw a football and make simple defensive reads. I want to move up to highschool ball sometime so with older kids I could utilize a stronger arm and get more creative with the playbook

You must have the most talented teams. With close to equal talent that defense would get burnt up and run on. I'd have you in a 5-3 or 4-4 before halftime. I coached on a team like that averaging 40 plus and having the best defense. We were good coaches but had talent. Show some video and I bet you got the most talented team
@beastoutu Жыл бұрын
I think having talent plays a big part at any level of Football 🏈. A team that runs the 53 or 44 and they’re not talented we get burned by a talented team that runs to 62. So talent can be the great divider. But good coaching and development can be the great equalizer.

Purchased the 62 defense playbook it’s awesome. Question how do I stop a trips right, te left in slot right beside left tackle,single HB, Qb in shotgun? Also if te motions right for a bubble pass ?
@beastoutuАй бұрын
Have your boys play zone. Usually when teams like to do that to us we will go into our cloud or sky look. Our goal is to keep everything underneath. Sometimes if you’re in man coverage, you can get burned with all the motions and window dressing.

Might be a stupid question but most teams run tight end on either side. Does the tackle stay outside or Always C gap pressure

@@beastoutu bought the Defensive playbook for the 6-2 repair. I am a DC for 7-8-9 year olds. Ran 4-4 last year our corners were sus and we did well but got eaten up on the outside runs. I was thinking 5-3 but I like exposing weak centers. Led me to the 6-2. What happens when they come out to spread do I check to a 4-4 or is there an easier solution? I feel like unless the O LINE has 0 holes that QB is going to have to much pressure to pass, furthermore if they decide run a Jet Sweep there’s still 3 guys on the other side of that sweep he has to get past?

For sure coach, what we're betting on is our front six causing disruption with the quarterback while also forcing him to throw a rushed pass "if" he gets it off. I would definitely not recommend staying in this formation if the team you're playing is a spread or air raid team. But in my experience on the little league level it becomes hard for quarterbacks to get the ball off if you have a good front six.

Lmao backers will cover that easy the problem is you giving up quick slants and seam curls all day at the youth level a lot of kids have a hard time executing short passes it’s a really good concept until you run into a team that is advanced for there age and can make those quick throws

I love the 44 defense coach. I ran that defense for about 10 years before switching to a 63 defense. It’s still a part of my defensive playbook.
@ziggystrong4770 Жыл бұрын
A much better defense. Learn it inside and out, mostly run double outside blitz. They will think you're running the 62 similar to him but you're not. Trust me I ran the 44 and had the whole League fooled. That way anytime anybody puts a slot on either side have the outside backer matchup with the slot and run an automatic three-weak blitz. Just teach the safety that he got the running back. Teach them to communicate that linebacker got say hey I got a man that let's other linebacker know he's blitzing
@ziggystrong4770 Жыл бұрын
@@beastoutu I ran the 6-3 also down right disrespectful. I dared them to throw theoretically I ran a gap 8 with a Rover. We gave up 14 points all year

Study, study, study! Your most disciplined players have to be your DEs. I think the number 1 thing that's overlooked in youth football is defense has to compliment the offense. A simple base defense allows a team time to do more offensively. You can have a great defense and struggle because you don't have enough offense.
