How to Stop the Purge for good | Conan Exiles 2020

To summarize for those who still have questions: 1) What matters is the pieces that touch the ground (the footprint of the base), not pieces you place on top of those. (Buildable trees also count as ground.) 2) These rules apply by land claim. If you have more than one land claim owned by your clan, you can make some purge-free and others can receive purges. If you have more than one building in a land claim and you want to keep it purge-free, all buildings in that land claim have to follow the purge-free rules. 3) There are five ways to avoid the purge: 3.1) Keep your land claim under 92 pieces. This includes everything, even workbenches, walls and roofs. 3.2) Build with only pillars and ceilings, no foundations of any kind. (This also includes no fence foundations.) 3.3) Build by starting with a single pillar topped with a ceiling and then up to 126 foundations. Keep the footprint of your base small enough that you never place more than 126 foundations. You can continue to build up, but not out. Never touch the ground again after the 126th foundation. 3.4) Build by starting with a single pillar topped with a ceiling and then place exactly 126 foundations. Place a new pillar and ceiling every 128 pieces (126 foundations) until you've built as big a base as you want. 3.5) Build by starting with a single pillar topped with a ceiling and then place exactly 126 foundations. Place a new pillar and ceiling every 128 pieces (126 foundations) until you've built your initial base. Add on to your base using only pillars topped with ceilings so that you don't have to remember where you left off with foundations. What's important to know is that the game groups connected ground-touching pieces in your land claim by Actor ID, and an Actor ID holds a maximum of exactly 128 pieces. The first piece you place down in a new Actor ID must be a pillar to avoid a purge.

You can continue to build out, not just up. You have to do another piller/ceiling combo before more foundations. However, in your explanation above, if I do pillar/ceiling then 126 foundations, will putting a single wall or crafting station down make it purge eligible?

No you can build as much walls and place as many benches as you want while they add to the score for purge eligibility the foundations are what is targeted.

Glad I found this. I just got the game a week ago, there was a purge on my first day but I was a noob with nothing so it didn't affect me. Today I got raided by 4 separate purges. One was an avalanche which did some damage but in the end as a total noob on my own I survived and the base took only minor damage. I did lose all my animals, about 20+, as well as another 15 or so thralls. It was very frustrating so i'm glad to know this :)

So another thought/question; does a pillar and ceiling tile always reset your count? Example: I lose count but know I’m not at the 128 pieces. If I toss a pillar and ceiling tile down at say 98 pieces, will that reset your counter?

If you're on a modded server with PIPPI and the right permissions players can use /heatmap to see how many building blocks, placeables and thralls they have on the map, indicated via colors and text readout.

What if you minimize foundations, last I checked you could span 4 spaces off 1 foundation. If you only do foundations for the perimeter or even use ALL pillars and put fence walls to cover the perimeter. I want the purge, it adds a little excitement, but I wanna control where it spawns and make sure it goes for specific places on my base where I can place thralls etc for defense. Finding places to build where the landscape controls the purge is annoying.

I would like to know as well. Knowing how fiddly Conan can be I'm sure there are alternatives, but its possible the 128 build method is merely the most consistent way. I also find it odd this method doesn't care about walls and such, when the 92 piece method does. Edit: thank you MadPirateShin, that answers the first question, but only partially answers the second. wak confirms at that point that he varies between 126 and 128 limits, but this is a far cry from the above suggested 10. That being said, it being variable in the first place is a good sign.

Great video, Wak. Although I generally keep the purge turned off (single player), I have enjoyed this line of inquiry. It's led me to build pillar bases on my most recent play through. I really like that building method for a few reasons. 1) If you build on high pillars, you can have a "stilt" house with all your workbenches underneath. 2) You can efficiently build over water, so you minimize the impact of your building on nearby resource nodes. Of course, this would be a bad idea in PVP.

Does anybody know?; 1) Will this "Start and end every batch of 126 with pillars" also work if you upgrade the pieces later on? Lets say I build 2 patches of 126 pieces in Sandstone, and later would like to invest in Tier 2/3. (is there any reason for upgrading core foundations pieces, and not only the perimeter ones?) 2) If I do the 126-pieces trick, will it work later when I add Fence-foundations as extra strength for the outer wall? (For me it often come when I upgrade to Tier 2 or 3, on the base I'd like to keep) 3) Can this trick be combined with oldcraig's "BASE DEFENSE (Build Guide) Part XI", where he "stuffs" a "foundation-area" with several layers of fence foundations? I bought the game in early access day 1 and have over 2k hours and still have never been purged in multiplayer that wasnt spawned by an admin. As far as I am concerned, Purge is a myth. Not a real feature.

What are some reasons you would want to stop a purge? I like getting them so I’m asking. I am very interested in only getting human purges though. Through purge thralls are GREAT for trade negotiations

The answer resides in your statement. If you want to build in an area that looks awesome but doesn’t get human purges you build to not get it there. You then build an outpost or another base that will spawn human purges. This way you can always force a purge at an eligible base that gets good purges. Some people may not like them in general.

I would suggest using mods. LBPR and pythagerous support beams should help you with reducing the number of pillars you would need.

Does this technique stop purges from happening for all bases belonging to a clan or just the base within that particular land claim area? I have a base which I’d rather not get purged - since it’s basically a public map room and refreshment area near an obelisk - and a base in a different biome where I do want a purge for hunting named thralls.

As he explained with the separate foundation (the one placed within the land-claim but separate from the build at 10:50 ) it only protects that build. Other structures in range can still trigger the purge unless they themselves are unpurgable (this point may need to be tested and proven actually, given how fiddly Conan can be sometimes). Structures out of range have no effect/are not effected.

This technique is per base. So you can indeed keep yer refreshment stand safe while farming the purge in another location.

I have a question. Does the purge know they are going to be overwhelmed by my thralls and pets, because the first 2 purges I got I didn't have enough strong thralls and pets. The purge went as expected wave after wave. The last 3 purges that I have gotten displays so and so is regrouping, but it actually ends after the first wave. Don't know if it's a bug, but now that I have strong thralls and pets the same thing has happened over and over.

That's a bug. The only way that'd happen on the legit, is if that first wave goes over the length of a purge timer (usually 20-40 minutes depending on server). I've had the final boss despawn without hitting that timer, so bug is most likely.

@@wak4863 The place where I am at I get mostly the human purges. The first one was the cultist purge and I managed to defeat them and that went well, the second was defari cannibals and that went as well as usual. The third one was roaming bandits, my thralls knocked them out quickly and got the message their regrouping, but nothing came out after that. The next 2 have been defari cannibals again and the same thing happened after the first wave it's says regrouping, but nothing. And it's simple to test it that is over by placing a building piece. If you can place a building piece then the purge is over. And this is on an online private server.

@@wak4863 I would be interested in how to get purges solo clan. When I cant get on for a couple days I lose all progress. What can I do to speed up purges? I ve been told to cycle steel reinforcements but that didn't work well enough. Do I need a million to cycle while I'm at work?

Don’t cycle reinforcements it does nothing for your purge. It’s good for experience but nothing for the purge meter. I got you though the build the meter video is on the list to be produced.

It’s not built on the stability of the pillar. It’s just that you start the build with a pillar.

Well named thralls can come in them. It used to be that the named blacksmiths from the purge were the only ones that had the recipe for legendary weapon repair kits and named armorers were the only ones that had the recipe for Redeemed silent legion.

hey aside from making room's With Walls & All is there a Way of Building That allows you To Make Really Tall and Extremely Large Room's ?, i started with minecraft so now i like to build everything in these games as big as possible. once in minecraft i built a Japanese Samurai Castle So Big it looked Photo Realistic From a Distance.
