Thank you so much for the information! I have a 3 month old ESS and definitely still bites. One useful thing out vet told us was if we were trying to take care of hip health we should actually walk him for longer then the recommendation. Because 10 minutes at 8 weeks was NOT enough to tire him out. Basically our vet explained that walking is ultimately less harmful then running and jumping on a puppy’s development. So we did 15-20 minutes instead, and it definitely helped. Which, in hindsight, seems super obvious now 😅.

My cocker spaniel playfully mouthed me for two years , she is now nearly three and it has finally ended she still attempts to have a play nibble but gets bored and stops , she seems to spend more time sleeping and being lazy indoors , but full of energy when outdoors , maybe it eventually ends naturally as a dog gets older , as a puppy I tried everything that you have suggested with her , sometimes young dogs just want to play , this my experience with my young cocker spaniel 🤔

have ended up being "baby sitter" for cocker spaniel pup , several days a week as owner has young child that is having hospital visits(yep, not the most sensible choice of pup given their situation but whats done is done). whilst at our home we have him calm-ish and generally well behaved but pretty sure guy who owns him just allows him to what he wants... have heavily suggest they aquire a professional trainer/attend classes but so far im not sure they understand how serious a lack of rules can be ,both for the dog and them.. any thoughts

I hope you will reply to my comment. My dog has two faces, a playful happy dog and the dark side... What to do with a 4-year-old cocker spaniel dog who bites and is aggressive when he steals a slipper or a sock or a pancake, he guards it and growls, you can't take it away from him unless you steal it when he goes somewhere. when he sits on the sofa even though he knows he shouldn't, he becomes territorial and growls, and she is ready to bite. is there any way to deal with such a stubborn, grumpy rascal?😅😊

Seems like common cocker spaniel issue, they tend to bite and resource guarding, mine too, after some training mine is getting better, but still trying to rehome him, because he is not safe for me to have around small children.

@@lingfengwei7290 the older she gets, the worse she behaves, the training seems to help and she listen during training, but when she goes crazy, she still does what she wants and doesn't listen at all, even though she hears me ;) I also have small children, I've had her since she was a puppy, but I never leave the dog one-on-one with the children which is bothersome but she is too unpredictable.

@@vegetablegardengrochzkapus8856 Maybe that's what called "Cocker Rage Syndrome", appeared to single-color red and golden English Cocker Spaniels, they can be sweet most of the time but suddenly become aggressively, it's a genetic problem due to poor breed many years ago when they became so popular. It is sad but nothing we can do about it, I am getting a American Cocker Spaniel after I rehome my 5 month old ECS, because the American type seems to be a lot more sweet and friendly. Since you've been having your dog for 4 years, if you want to keep her, I suggest you do some obedient training, let her sit and wait before you feed her, train her to react only after your command, punishment is needed when she acting aggressively, and reward her with some treats if she's being good. Build your leadership with your dog just like the video said, keep a good and healthy relationship with your dog. It's a fairly long day to day process, be patient, hope your dog becomes to be a better well behaved loving dog.

A leave command seems to be doing the trick. Why is your

Mines just started being a bitey and shouty little bugger all of a sudden at 1year 2 months - never had this frommany dog I've owned before Nd never ever had problems training out of biting as a puppy (like he was) before. He's just suddenly become a little shouty bitey (play bitey) demon. Not interested in his toys or playing fetch, just barking at me and mouthing at my hands constantly suddenly ignoring the pain of my fibromyalgia.

@@solom8447 i think maybe you should watch more dog training videos. A very attentive and emotive/sensetive dog like a spinger is even worse to use negative based training on than normal. Maybe it worked quick, but for the wrong reasons and can create a very neurotic dog - not great for a threapy dog

Don’t teach it to bite in the first place.. Rough play is a No No. I spent a long time telling mine not to open his mouth when playing, from when he was a puppy. He never opened his mouth to anyone after about 12 months old.

Spaniels like children need a nuclear family, to be able to play with dad and get love from mam. Their intelligence allows them to sperate family members. I've watched a few of your videos on springers and I agree with about 80% of what you say, however what you are saying applies to about 80% of dog breeds. On springers you are way of the mark, way way of the mark. Please understand the master of many is a master of none. You would have to be 80yrs old for me to listen to you about specific breeds.
