The firesteel storage idea and how to strike the whole length is good but the storage of the 3 tools inside and how they don’t fall out if you only use one blade…that is great!

I am also using this way to carry the mini scales tools in my 111mm SAK and actually works very well.To carry a fire steel I am using combination of these two methods.Pull out of the handle the ferro rod of the FireAnt and place it into a shrink tube, now it is possible to fit underneath of the Phillips head of the 111mm SAK. I absolutely love how you refit your SAKs with what they are sorely lacking! Great stuff and thank you for all you do 🙏 😊 And as someone else mentioned, why in the world haven't Victorinox not started allowing full customization of any of their models?!! I have an old Officers model of the SAK that was made between 1976 and 1982 or 83 if I remember correctly and I won't go out the door without it! 😂🙌

The addition of the tooth pick, tweezers and the safety pin (that is what we call that "needle" here in The USA) is actually quite genius! I would much rather have a sewing needle than the safety pin. I honestly can't really think of what I would need a safety pin for as part of my SAK tools… well, if you smashed your finger or toe and had a bad blood blister under the nail and needed to release pressure. I could see using that by heating it up fire red hot and then Using it to puncture a hole in the nail… but you could use a sewing needle to accomplish, ish the same thing and still sew with it… I also really liked the fire steel addition… And thank you for showing the trick for holding it with the little branch… I would use my mini pliers to hold one end of it… but I like your way much better,,, 😊😊😊 have a blessed day Felix…

So good to see you again, Felix! And hey - this video was particularly innovative, as usual... I love how you come up with the most useful "hacks", and this one is truly brilliant! Like the way you used that piece of branch, for instance, in order to use the **entire** length of the fire steel - it's the very best solution to the problem of waste due to having to hold onto half of the length while using it! One could even fashion a dedicated holder from scrap wood - thanks, Felix! 🙂

If you don't have shrink tube! Wrap a little square piece of electric tape around the tweezers, semi tightly. Sticky side out! Then put toothpick in to see if it's too tight/loose. Based on above wrap another square piece of electrical tape (either more tight or just around) this time sticky side "in", so both the tape pieces sticky sides are touching. And there you are, worked perfectly for me. Thanks Felix!

Sounds like that's the US military version, apparently not standard issue but available in PXs. The GAK has hard nylon scales with the ''Bundesadler'' (Federal eagle) emblem. But apart from the scales and coating, it's the same as this, and also as the current issue Swiss Army ''Soldier 08'' so the vid is still valid.

I’m happy with the options Victorinox give us. However, if there’s one thing I’ve never understood is why those 111mm models don’t come with scale tools. That’s one of the reasons I have a Trailmaster (Trekker) but not a Soldier. The knives are the same but the latter doesn’t come with said tools. At least we have Felix Immler, who can always improvise a solution to any problem.
