This video eased my anxiety about breast pumping … at first I was considering formula because I was intimidated by the process of storing, thawing, etc. God willing I think I am going to go the breast pumping route. These times of providing infants with adequate nutrition are scary (formula related illnesses and formula shortage)

So helpful im learning alot since im due in aug i have flat nipples im worried about lach so learning about pumping method i have a few qs 1. Thawing method when we take milk bags out fm freezer n keep it down fridge to thaw how many hours i can keep it here before i remove it? Because i thought if il soly depend on pumping. And if i remove a batch for the whole day from the freezer down and use simultaneously across the day?

I am so happy this was useful!! 💜 Yes, I used to do that but to 2-3 hours max if she didn't consume then I would just throw it out; make sure to smell the milk before to make sure it hasn't gone bad

@@LivforLu it’s so much better now. I feel like a pro freezing my milk and thawing it too 😅. I’m at 4 months of exclusively pumping. At first I would pump every 2-3 hours (7-8 times a day) But now I pump every 4-5 hours (5-6 times a day) And haven’t lost any of my milk supply. Do you recommend that? I’m just scared one day I’ll wake up with no milk 😮‍💨 . I’m a first time mommy. So this is still all new.

Thanks a lot it helps. But, if I ask you what do you eat/drink to produce all this milk? Bcz my breasts dry easily. I pump not more than 2 oz.

Hello, I had a question. I’m planning to travel with my one month old and will be taking frozen milk with me in a cooler. Can I put it in the freezer on the plan if it hasn’t thawed?

Hi Faiza, when I travelled with my 10 month old at that time I brought frozen milk in my small cooler to let it thawed. It was a 9hr flight. I remember that there was no option to put it in the freezer in the plane. I would suggest if possible once you take frozen milk out of the freezer to use it within those same hours. Don’t remove milk from freezer for a couple of hours to freeze again. The change in temperature can spoil the milk. Let me know if that helps

@@faizameghani1312 it will have to be used within the 24 hours after removing it from the freezer. In that case I would pump and store new milk while your little one drinks the milk that you took out

Are the storage bags washable? Before keeping in the bags do we wash the bags?

They are single use only and you don’t wash them

i would use it in less than 24 hours. Make sure its properly stored in the fridge. Try to avoid the door spots.

This video was so helpful. Thank you for everything! I'd like to know, how much time max do you keep your frozen milk in your bag? Do you use your pump and put it back in your bag, can you use the pump again without sterilising it? How many degree of hot water do you thaw your frozen milk? :)

Hi! 1) once I removed the milk bag from the freezer to go out somewhere I must use it during that outing. I wouldn’t store it back. 2) If I had to reuse my pump when I was on the road I made sure I emptied it and kept the pump container in a cooler ( I would avoid this method unless necessary)

3) to thaw the milk i would do half hot water and half cold water in a cup. Make sure it’s more on the warmer side to thaw the milk bag

I’m a first time mom planning on breastfeeding, can anybody tell me what the point of freezing is? Is it just to have extra milk in case you run out of fresh? I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just freeze everything and then thaw them as you need. Also how often do you pump? Is it daily? I don’t understand anything 😅

Hi mama !! Congratsss!! trust me I have been there and i am here to help 😊. I started exclusively pumping bc my little one never latched since I produced a lot of milk I decided to feed my LO my milk instead of formula. If you are able to breastfeed directly that does make the journey much easier!! Freezing milk is a good option to let your partner or anyone else helping feed your little one if you are out or resting. Hope this helps mama 💜

How do you travel with your breast milk? I assume you grab a couple frozen bags and take cooler with ice with you or?

Yes! I travelled beginning of last year in a 7 hour flight. I brought my small cooler with the ice packs I got from medela and brought a couple of milk bags there + the fresh milk I was pumping on the way. Once you’re in the plane you can ask to get your milk store in the mini fridge

Did you latch baby on breast first to get the milk going or did you automatically start pumping right after birth. I’m due soon. And plan the bottle feed my baby with breast milk only.

Caroline Herrera I personally did. Make sure that you didn’t mix that milk with an older milk. So if you got the milk from the same pump session and store it in the fridge then it’s fine.

How much does your baby drink in 8hrs? How old is she? My baby is starting daycare next week. He's 4months and thinking of giving daycare 12 ounces for the 8-9 hours he'll be there. 3 4ounce bottles.

Natalie Santos-Madrid hey love! Thanks for the great question. My LO is going to be 1 in two days!! She still has her same eating pattern where she drinks milk very 4 hours but she’s eating more solids now so the quantity of milk intake is going to be different then when she was 4 months old. When she was around 4 months she used to eat around 3.5oz-4 oz every 3hrs-4hrs.. I suggest maybe if you have the option to leave milk in the daycare freezer leave some extra bags that way you can leave 12 oz for the 3 feeds and have piece of mind that if his going through a growth spur or idk wants to drink more milk on a certain day they will have enough.
