1 MONTH FRESHNESS GUARENTEED! Now keep pudina/ mint leaves 1 month fresh !! STEP BY STEP METHOD
how to preserve MINT / PUDINA leaves for a long time - We all buy bundles of fresh mint leaves, but often we are worried that they might get wasted. But there are easy ways to store coriander leaves for a long time. Fresh mint has an aroma that almost everyone likes. Like any other fresh herb, though, mint easily wilts, making those lovely leaves less attractive as garnishes and in drinks. However, don't worry that your fresh mint will wilt in your recipes. There are some helpful techniques to delay the wilting process.
HOW TO STORE MINT/PUDINA LEAVES
preparation time: 10 MINS
recipe type: DIY
INGREDIENTS
Mint leaves
Colander
Kitchen tissues
Plastic container
METHOD:
1. Use the mint fresh.
2. Pluck the leaves and collect in a colander
3. Wash pudina/ mint leaves in running water
4. Pat dry the pudina/ mint leaves in a towel
5. Store it in a tissue paper lined plastic container
6. Keep and store pudina/ mint leaves container it in the refrigerator use it when required. While using if you find water on the tissue paper, change the tissue papers and replace them with fresh ones.
7. pudina/ mint leaves Stays fresh for 1 month.
P.S. Take care that the leaves should be completely dry without any moisture content in it. If the moisture remains, the leaves will get rotten very fast.

Do we transfer the stems from water to a mud pot? I have seen in several videos that after the roots grow in water, we have to transfer it in mud.
@CreativeCookingbyDrKajal
@CreativeCookingbyDrKajal 6 жыл бұрын
Hi meghana 😀 its a great question!it's very important to keep the stems in water till the time the roots are fully grown. Once the roots are grown in the water, you can transfer it to the pot when the leaves will grow faster. Refering to my earlier question Dr. Kajal I meant while putting the stems in a glass jar with water do we have to change the water in the jar?... if so .. how often do we need to discard old water and replace with fresh water. Becoz i have made several attempts but failed miserably ... i land up throwing the blackend stems as either the tops become black n wilted and the parts submerged in water rot. No leaves only failed attempts same with soil.
@CreativeCookingbyDrKajal
@CreativeCookingbyDrKajal 3 жыл бұрын
Replace the water atleast once a day. Even if u dont put in soil it will grow in water. Make sure u are putting the stems in glass so it can recieve sunlight. Always put the stems in indirect sunlight so they can grow. Hope this helps.😊😊

One more question. You mentioned that to clean n store in refrigerator the day we buy it but you later washed the leaves too. What do u mean by clean it the same day of buying?
@CreativeCookingbyDrKajal
@CreativeCookingbyDrKajal 6 жыл бұрын
Purnima Mehta hi purnima.. good question! I said that clean and refrigerate the same day because mint leaves are very sensitive. If u have got fresh leaves say now and if u keep it outside or in refrigerator directly then 1. There will be soil which may enter the refrigerator and 2. The leaves will start to wilt by evening if not stored correctly. Thats why u must immediately clean and store fresh leaves. If fresh leaves are stored correctly they will stay good for a very long time in refrigerator 😀👍

Thanks much mam. So, you washed the whole bunch same day n stored it in the fridge? One doubt, will the water moisture not spoil the leaves by next day?

Really loved this video. I perfectly followed your instructions, for cleaning and storing the latest bunch of pudina that I bought. Also cut the bottom of many of the good stems and put them in transparent bottle /jar of water, and as you rightly said, new baby leaves have just started to sprout now from some of the stems. Such a delight watching that! :-) Wanted to ask you for how long will new leaves keep sprouting from the stems (assuming we pluck the leaves for regular use periodically). Also wanted to ask if the same idea of putting cut stems for re-growth would work for other leafy plants like coriander and curry leaves etc... Please do guide regarding both these points. By the way, I checked out some of your other videos as well, and needless to say, I've already subscribed to your channel for more updates & future Videos! Good luck, God Bless! :-)

The mint leaves will keep coming as long as you change the water every day and it receives some sort of indirect sunlight🌿 With coriander leaves you cannot do that but do check out my video on how to store coriander leaves I have mentioned how you can grow coriander at home. With curry leaves you can take a stem of of the curry leaf, remove all the leaves and the diameter of the stem should be around the diameter of pencil. Also stem should be brown in colour and not Green. Just trim the end of curry leaf stem apply some turmeric powder and put it in soil. The curry leaf will start coming into two and a half months.

@@CreativeCookingbyDrKajal Thanks a lot for the guidance on coriander and curry leaves. I did watch your video on coriander. Will try getting the seeds and sowing them. Have already kept two good brown stems of curry leaves plant ready, after using the leaves. Have to arrange for soil and attempt planting them, after applying turmeric, as you said. The mint leaves are growing beautifully from each of the stems! I'm enjoying the simple pleasure of watching the baby leaves grow, and newer ones coming on... :-) Religiously changing the water everyday!

@@krishnangopalakrishnan2706 thats good 🌿 when u plant curry stem just scrape off a bit outer covering of brown stem approx 1 to 2 inches... apply turmeric powder and then put it in soil. It will take 2 months or more for a leaf to come.. put be patient ... also keep the soil dry.. occasionally water it.

Not clear whether the mint is to be stored in the freezer or too shelf of freezer. In one comment you mentioned in the ice compartment- does this mean the freezer
