I always used to store my color pencils drawings in those plastic folders, until I noticed that a "ghost" image was being transferred to the actual plastic from the some of my drawings. This was over a number of years, but bear this in mind when considering this option as you may get a ghostly transference of the drawing to the plastic of the folder. I does not always happen however on every artwork - and I do still have some color pencil art that has been in plastic covers since 1978 without too much transference of the original drawing. I think there are plus and minus aspects to any method. However I absolutely love that cabinet storage option shown in this video with all those drawers, I have been wanting to actually make one of those cabinets to try and keep the price down.

@@intenseninja82 No I think you misread what I was saying in my comment, I said about making my own cabinet in order to keep the price down, i.e. rather than buying a cabinet from a shop, so not necessarily about making money in the future in any way just saving money but making my own cabinet.

Maybe you can put one sheet of that transparent paper (not plastic) between the drawing and the plastic, so the colour doesn't transfer
@philgray73206 ай бұрын
@@umbrechan That is probably a good idea, although ti is annoying that the colour pencil transfers to those plastic sheets being as that is what they are being sold for ?

I'm not an artist by any means. I have just gotten back into being creative with my Scripture hand lettering, which then led to watercolouring and (attempting) to draw!!! I was trying to find a video with sketches that are loose paper and put into a leather/faux leather type of cover (like what you see used with journals/travel notebook covers)... But, I also love the idea of a portfolio, or placing them in a file cabinet. Thanks for the tips mate!

Hi Matt ! Thanks for the video and the courses! I have learned a lot from you. Could you please make a video about oil pastel fixatives? Is it worth it ? Also, I would like to learn how to frame the oil pastels without damaging the drawing if we do not want to use fixative. Thanks !!

At the moment my works are slowly filling the drawers of an IKEA cupboard I bought for the purpose. Mainly charcoal and graphite drawings treated with fixative., and watercolor paintings.

I’m curious to know if there is a specific brand of portfolio that you could recommend? Some of the drawings (pencil, colored pencil) I have are from when I was younger and are still in decent shape, being 20+ years old.

If u store ur colored pencil drawings in a plastic folder without using a fixative spray, it will get faded and less artistic after like 2 years. So I think u better store the m in a portfolio. BTW, I am just a 15 ya girl. So idk if my it will be much useful for ya lol. But I draw good too and I have a bit experience as well

Okay, now, I've been asking everywhere - Maybe YOU can help me. What are your thoughts about Laminating art? I have laminated chalk pastel on pastel mat. It's been a year or so and they are fine. I'm only worried about the long run, uv, cracking, yellowing like old varnish. Nothing has happened yet and there is NO research out there at ALL. Most people (not all) just tell me 'no don't do that it will be bad for your art' but if it is perfected, it could be the next big thing for artists and has obvious benefits it it does. So......any thoughts?
@UnbeltedSundew2 жыл бұрын
I think that problem will occur when the laminate degrades enough that it'll need replacing. It might be impossible to remove without damaging the pastels. But it also sounds like the kind of product that they'd make archival versions of? The other thing is that isn't it too glossy? I'd think it really ruins the natural material effect of pastels or charcoal. How do they look? I think for paintings varnish is a better choice, it's not difficult to deal with and you can basically pick and choose many of the properties you want it to have.

Hi, thank you for all your helpful videos. I have a question without answer until now. May somebody can help. I am not an artist, but my daughters are, and we have a big bunch of old acrylic paint bottles, mainly Pebeo.. I would like to save the paint that is, sometimes, too dense. Since a few years ago, I put some bottles upside down. Now I am adding the mixing sphere and ..... How can I extend shelf life? Is it better the Flow Improver Winsor & Newton, or a thinner (OPEN)? Any suggestion is welcome, thank you
@atorybrifh9492 жыл бұрын
I hope it is not too late, use water to thin the paint, not more than 30%
