I have a 2016 Pilot and this does work although, it doesn't stay. Once the car is turned off it has to be done again. Is there a save button that I am missing?

DIYable : yeah, it seems like they're slow-walking upgrades to the 2nd generation RL. Which I think is a good thing. It's always the first year after major changes that there's a bunch of problems. I don't understand why Honda makes the head units so difficult to tweak. I do understand that there's some driver functionality stuff that needs to be buried and hard (or impossible) to access, but I think head units should be mini laptops that you can install any operating system on. I don't know much about computers, but years ago I made a bootable thumb drive with a Linux operating system on it. I could plug that into any computer and run my own operating system on it as long as I had authority to boot from a drive. I think cars should be able to do this with their head units and there would be plenty of open-source free-ware available. I've heard of the Honda Hack thing that's available to buy, but I prefer open source stuff that plenty of people have looked at and discussed on forums.

This works, but it needs to be done every time the engine is restarted. I wish there was a way to make it persistent. Not a big deal though because it's something I only imagine is needed occasionally. I want it for KZbin audiobooks specifically. And there's other occasions it would be useful.

For an audiobook that you're able to listen to with your phone, as long as you have USB in your car, you should be able to just connect your phone via USB and play your KZbin audiobook through your cars audio system via your cell phone.
