JB makes a version that already has metal mixed in, not sure if it's steel or aluminum

It is called a "transfer punch". I have a set and they sure come in handy. Great idea Thanks for the tip

Your metal filler idea makes sense… there’s actually a little bit of aggregate in those epoxy compounds… the ProPoxy20 is a two part puddy stick that you need to cut off two equal parts of your resin and your hardener then you kneed them together… you just clean it and use your silver antisieze in a extremely thin coating on your screws I actually spin a little brush in the hole then coat the fastener after using a toothpick to push some into the hole… then screw in the fastener… let it kick for 20 minutes then simply unscrew it… and you’ll have enough threads there to not need to fill it and drill and tap… it just skip’s a step. You can also just not fill your holes completely and just use your toothpick to ring some around the rosey and add a little epoxy to the sides of your hole then run your screw in and they will tap their own threads… you just need to add a little meat to your edges for those top covers and non-load bearing fastener’s

The .8 means there's .8mm between each thread. It's actually easier to think about than the standard way of measuring threads.

It's called a transfer punch. And use a drill press when necessary.

The shavings sound like a good idea for certain uses such as this! If it's a part that can be heated and I want the JB as hard as possible, after 24 hrs I'll bake it at 200F for 30 minutes, cool 30 minutes. Bake at 300F 30 minutes, cool 30 then bake 400-450 for 30 minutes. Seems to work well.

If you ever get the chance to try out some Belzona do it. It's JB on ROIDS lol. We use it on shafts that get screwed up, it sets pretty quick and can be machined 👍🏻, might be some holding my boat block together 🤷‍♂️ 😆

You can get Devcon with steel or aluminum in it. Possibly a couple others like copper but I can’t remember for sure. I use hard wax like Johnson’s or any carnauba car wax for putting on something like a bolt you don’t want to stick to the epoxy. Pam or spray cartridge case lube works as well but hard wax is my favorite as it’s thin and doesn’t contaminate. 👍🏼

You can use alcohol to clean the excess JB weld off your workbench. Works wonders.

Marine Tex is similar to jb weld but a little thicker. They claim you can drill and tap it. May be worth looking at.

Don’t they make steel reinforced JB weld? I gotta go check the epoxy I just bought but I’m pretty sure it’s steel reinforced JB. It’s in the plastic syringe rather than the tubes. I’ve mixed regular JB weld in the toothpaste tubes with fumed silica I had lying around and it got real hard. Actually used the silica because I needed the JB to not be runny. Fumed silica is a filler used for fiberglass or whatever resin impregnated glass/fiber to thicken it for layups but it also makes it a lot more durable.
