I liked this video. My last stretch was 6 months, but i cut alot of inches off to go back to shoulder length becuase the ends were thin. So since my last relaxer i have changed some things, I try to wash my hair every week and do a deep condition with every wash day, I put aphogee 2 step treatment back into my routine because using bond menders alone was not cutting it, I dont use a blow dryer after my relaxer day, and my leave in for my roots is different from the leave in conditioner I use to the length of my hair. I am currently 13 weeks post relaxer and paying attention to my hair, when it becomes a hassle to put into a bun I know its time to relaxe, and I have decided to not use braids to stretch my hair because the breakage and shedding after is too much

My wash days are longer when I have passed 12 weeks post relaxer stretching. I stay away from protective hairstyles with braids (personal preference). I recently developed a wash routine that has worked wonders for me over the past 2 months. So on my next 12-17 weeks of stretching, I will be applying this wash routine which according to what you have highlighted is very different from my normal day wash routine before the growth starts to kick in.

What protective styles do you tend to do during your stretch?
@k61352 жыл бұрын
@@DenaJ so far I use my headband wig. So I put in some all back rows (6 to 8) and wear my wig for the week. Every evening after work, I take it off and give those 'rows ' some good loving with my spray leave in and nourish my scalp with its favorite : castor oil. I've attempted weave 3 times. When I went to the stylist, I had to keep telling her she's pulling at my hair too hard or she's putting in the cornrows too tight or she's tightening that thread too much. I could feel that she was annoyed at me for doing so. The second time, I went to my stylist. She did awesome job. 3rd time I went back to her. She did an equally awesome job however, my take down wasn't awesome and I wasn't consistent with all the caring. So I lost a lot of hair. So you know this is off my list! I looovveeee to see the braid outs however my hair isn't long enough for that as yet so I am focused on health and low manipulation. So far I only do two low manipulation hair styles really: high bun with ends tucked away or I comb all my hair to the back, add a head band, and rod the ends. #NoLongStory. Works for me because on mornings I just need to get ready to leave for school.

I just filmed a video about this... I'm at a point now when I have tested these methods for Yearsss. It is safe to say my hair has a mind of it's own. The truth is earlier this year I made it to 14 weeks in a breeze, but now I can't make it past 9 weeks. We have to stop forceful routines sometimes. i.e. the seasons will give you different hair growth rates and textures. And you need to decide when your stretch ends or when to keep going. I now feel like I will aways project when my next relaxer is but best believe I will evaluate the heck out of the situation. I want zero and I mean zero struggle. Soon as the struggle starts for me, the severe breakage starts, my hair is too fine for me to force anything.

I relax every 10 weeks. When I stretch for 3 months I get breakage at the line of demarcation. When I stretch every 2 months nothing really happens but I just want to stretch a little bit. So 10 weeks been perfect for me ^_^

I'm really considering reducing my stretch for ease...

Hi! I really enjoyed watching this video! And, I totally agree with you on stretching your relaxers to have healthier hair and to retain length! I have 2C/3A hair type and texture. My hair's texture is between wavy and curly, and I've been into stretching relaxers for 10 years now! But for the last 3 years I've been stretching out my relaxers to doing them once or twice a year! I'm planning on relaxing my hair this coming Thursday after it's been since February of this year! I'm really excited to see how much new growth I have!

This was a very helpful video. Question: What products do you put in your hair within 7 days prior to a relaxer? I’m stretching now for 20 weeks and my stylist declined to do my relaxer because she said I had too much products in my hair. I washed my hair a week before the scheduled relaxer but due to My new growth being so dry and thick I put some leave in in and the stylist said I shouldn’t. any tips on what I can put in my hair the week before a relaxer?
@DenaJ3 жыл бұрын
Hey Lisha. I would utilize my conditioner and water mix mostly and minimize heavy oiling of my scalp. Your hairdresser is absolutely right because the more build up of hair products on your new growth, it would affect the relaxer process, esp products high in oil content. So, around day 2/7, I would lightly oil my scalp, but l, utilise my concoction mostly. Here and there, I would moisturize and seal, but only on the ends of my hair.

I still can't understand how to tell the signs you need to get a touch up, is it just the breakage as a sign?
