I started my hair care journey in January. I just use a very moisturizing conditioner and add a few tablespoons of any oil (heated) my hair likes (olive oil, argan oil, castor oil, etc). Then I apply the deep conditioner (in sections) then put 2 shower caps on then throw on my bonnet. I just let the natural heat off my scalp penetrate for 2-3 hours. I can't afford a heat source at the moment but I just work out while I have the dc or go for a walk (hot climate so it penetrates well). I don't have a lot of money so I just do it simple and it works for me.

My hair is veryyy thick (almost apl) and deep conditioning makes my hair very soft, supple and manageable. I deep condition every 2 weeks (every wash day)
@DenaJ2 жыл бұрын
Totally understandable. When I started, I couldn't afford one either. It was years on end before I started using heat to deep condition. Eventually, we work our way up to heat.

Great tips Dena… I wash my hair every two weeks… my hair didn’t like being washed weekly… I deep condition with heat every time I wash my hair…

Another great video Dena. I have seen a lot of hair gurus use heat when deep conditioning but I honestly never felt as moved to incorporate it as part of my routine until I watched your video. I always love your videos because you really make the time to explain the "what" and the "how" but most importantly the "whys" and "why not". Thank you & Great week ahead Dena!!

Awwww, thanks girl. Happy you're now encouraged to use heat. You won't be disappointed 🥰

I have a heat cap and I also use my hair steamer about every two weeks, this combo works for my hair. Great video, thank you.

Omg yes to all of this! Back in the day adding oils was a great way to enhance conditioners that didn’t have the best ingredients but nowadays it’s totally unnecessary when there are so many deep conditioners + hair masks with butters & oils. Also I stopped deep conditioning on dry (dirty) hair after clarifying & DC with ors replenish with heat. I experienced the clear difference between actual soft hair and coated hair that appears soft. Always love your tips and your hair looks amazing Dena!

You said it-products have been upgraded! And the difference between coated hair and soft hair is soooo diff!

Sis I started using a heat cap on my relaxed hair last year and wow! The results are crazy. People always stop me and say “who did your silk press” whole time it’s the creamy crack! Lol

Hey there, I am another who enjoy your content very much. Thanks for your excellent content. I’m also one who has a tried & true oil mixture that I will always continue to use in my DC. I’m sorry that you cannot experience what many of us do however just like you said in the beginning, “ this is what works for YOU!” Much continued success in your hair journey.

Yes, I never understood deep conditioning on dry hair. It just seems redundant. A clean slate is best.

Hairstyle tutorial please nuh! Love the hairrrr and I’m watching this as I’m getting ready to deep condition. Feeling attacked - I religiously use these oils because the KZbin gurus said to lol. I do think my hair likes castor oil and avocado oil though so I’ll keep using them

Can I shampoo my hair after deep conditioning or just using water only and rinsing the conditioner is enough ??
@DenaJ Жыл бұрын
Rinse out with plain water. You shampoo first and then deep condition ❤️

I’m just confused about deep conditioning and protein treatments. How is it done , when is it done, should it both be done on wash days pls help me answer these questions 😢
@DenaJ6 ай бұрын
Quite simple once you get the hang of it. Both are usually done on wash days. You can alternate between a protein and moisture treatment week by week, or you can simply mix your protein with your moisturising conditioner... The more you read up or research about deep conditioning, it'll come quite naturally 🥰

using a regular conditioner and a deep conditioner the same wash is a waste of product/money unless youre using the regular one specifically for detangling. (just fyi for who ever needs it.)
@DenaJ7 ай бұрын
I would use the regular one for detangling mainly. As I mentioned it also adds an extra layer of moisture. My routine has since changed, but this worked well for me for a while.
