Oh man everytime you scrape the Frame my Heart hurts a bit 😁

I love your rules. Thank you for being honest and not lying and making it look easy. You've convinced me not to paint my carbon car part, and probably saved me from destroying it. Thank you very much!
@sebastianm23819 ай бұрын
I have done this once on an old road bike frame. I can confirm that it's an enormous shitload of work. I did succeed eventually only to fuck up the paint job afterwards. I then gave it to a professional paint shop who had to sand it down all over again and put on a proper paint job. The bike is now back on the road and looks beautiful. I gave it to a friend of mine. But I'm not sure I'm ever going to do this again.

Great video man, thanks. I have an old cervelo soloist road frame that I used to race that I'm thinking about stripping and painting this summer. I'd be interested in any more videos like this, perhaps how you applied the decals to your Scott RC or how you apply the wax/clear coat? Anyway, I appreciate the ethos, approach and video production, cheers from Scotland!

@Dangerholm What kind of wax do you mean? Can you post a link? Any recommendations? What do you think about clearcoat, does it last or is it just becoming briddle after time?

For God's sake, don't do it mechanically because you'll also strip the carbon. This is carried out with the help of chemistry. Greetings

take his advice seriously: DON'T DO IT! never sand down to raw carbon! you will remove carbon material, especially on edges you will in no time sand through whole layers of carbon. I tried it. Don't waste your time and destroy your frame
@lwl8165 жыл бұрын
Nice! Is the method similar for an aluminum framed bike? I’ve always wanted to do a custom paint job on my old hardtail but have never had a clue how to do it properly so I just left it. I look forward to more of your videos!
@rodrigolucia75405 жыл бұрын
For aluminium bikes you should use paint stripper. Doesn´t ruin your frame and it is infinitely much more easy. (Aluminium does not get hurt, while resin does)

My favorite is Morakniv Robust, it has a very thick blade that causes much less vibration than most other knifes. Other than that it comes down a lot to just preference and what you have available, once you start working you'll get a feel for what works best for you.
